Attention Wise users - fake emails circulating

A couple of friends have received emails purportedly from Wise:-

All the hallmarks of a fake, not personally addressed, embedded link, etc. etc. the "Login" link goes to "wIseuk" (yes, that's a lower case L).

Despite all the warnings people still follow these links and get screwed, so another warning can never hurt.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I got these as well, but I have a very unique email address for my Wise account (and all others as well) and they (the spammers) are sending it to the wrong one :whistling:

You are right, but you can spoof an email address which easily fools an NON PC Savy user!

true as this is it is very hard to fool most mailservers, because despite the email address appearing dfferent, the header info is all wrong/

After years of receiving phishing emails etc, the email address is always a give away, the name is changed but I can't think of one example where i clicked on the email address and it was correct

Just received a different one today…

Asking me to change my password

What’s the difference between a legitimate Wise email and a fake one?

  • Wise always addresses you by the first name you entered on our website

  • If we ask you to follow a link in an email, you’ll always be directed to a website which starts with https://wise.com

  • Double check the spelling of this website — scammers will sometimes change one letter so the address looks very similar

If you think you’ve received a phishing email from somebody pretending to be Wise, get in touch — we’re happy to help.
