Fireflies, I've never seen so many before.

So the start of monsoon there's always the odd firefly around, one, two or maybe three spotted in a season. This year it's different, I've been seeing them every night, one even started flying around my bedroom. Last night my son and I were watching the field behind the house, I counted five in about 20 minutes. My kid pointed to a whole tree of them in the distance.

Very pretty and nice to see.

Anyone else noticing them?

I have not seen any so far this year but i am in the city. Normally i might see 2 a year.

Seen a lot where we are......walking the dog in the national park at night......amazing sight.

Down at our "country retreat" in the south we are surrounded by rubber trees and fireflies are in abundance....

Awesome. I have never seen one in real-life and didn't even know we had them in Thailand.

I used to see them every October here in Samui on a patch of overgrown land. Then someone cut back all the growth two years ago.

Although it has all grown back, I have not seen any since. A shame as I had never seen fireflies before, so I used to look forward to seeing them.

We live adjacent to a village reservoir.....a swampy marsh extends alongside our land.  During certain times of the year, it looks like O'Hare Airport It's an awesome sight even if you're accustomed to seeing fireflies on a regular basis.

Have a patch of natural growth about 1/4 rai on our walk around the compound, counted 36 along one side, never have seen anything close to that before.  Was like a Disney movie.  San Phi Suea.

Not just you. Occasionally I'd see one but this year - they even got into my bedroom. Wake up at 3 a.m. and they are buzzing around the room. Maybe something to do with the rain.

Just thought......it could be posterior vitreous detachment......might be worth a trip to the opticians.
