O.C.D. What's YOURS?

OCD is a serious and very treatable mental problem. Don't self-diagnose; if you think you have it, talk to a specialist. Lifestyle change and often medication can help. A lot.

If you're using OCD as a funny shorthand for generalized anxiety or garden variety neurosis, that's fine too.

I am a little OCD - i cant stand empty plates or cups standing idle on the table - i have to put them in the sink - and then wash them as i dont like dirty dishes in the sink.

That REALLY gets up my nose when we dine out and the staff don't come and clear the table!

Like you it's no problem at home, I just get up and start to do it, which usually shames the rest of the diners to get up and help.

Constantly looking behind while at ATM machines(I am American, grew up in Los Angeles and just can’t let this habit go, even though I am in LOS).  Also, double checking to see if my wallet is there and double  checking to make sure my door is locked.  Again, as an American who grew up in Los Angeles this was considered normal.

I can't stand to continue sitting at the table after I've finished eating. When I see three spoonfuls left on the plate I call for the check. I'm chewing my final mouthful as I walk out the door. Friends who want to continue sitting and visit after we've had lunch together drive me crazy.

- At home I like my furniture parallel with the walls or tile gaps on the floor

I can relate to this, I used to run logistics for an interior design company, we would deliver the furniture to the rich and famous - and everything has to be centered, everything has to be balanced, I still do it now, I don’t know if it’s OCD or just creative design awareness.

As you say, it’s easy to fall into the trap of lining everything up with the grouting.

I'm similar at home. The final mouthful is time to move the plate or bowl away from the table.

But in a restaurant I like to chill for 5 minutes.

Insects.....not allowed in the house.

That's a tall order in Thailand. Do you allow spiders and geckos to remain so that they can gobble up trespassers?

What do you do when the grout lines are not parallel to the walls?  The tiles are manufactured with great precision and accuracy, but the concrete structure and walls are often made by hand with less accuracy.

Oddly enough have not seen a single spider.......geckos are fine apart from their poo, and we rarely see them.
