Thailand's Expats Urged to Register with TRD for Tax, Says Expert
We disagree. The TRD has made a very clear decision which is supported by very clear statements. This was not always the case and I agree there has been uncertainty in the past but now confirmation is coming through. The TRD Code has always said it, TRD staff are now reported by members to have said it and now law firms are in print on the subject and they confirm it is so. Enforcement is a separate subject, the intent and the desire however are now unambiguous. -

Called at the Chonburi Taxation office
Wow. In Chiang Mai, the District Office staff are well aware of the Regional Office and also of the pecking order! Plus several staff speak a reasonable level of conversational English. -

Road Rage, Six-Wheel Truck Driver Attacks Songthaew Driver in Violent Confrontation
An incident of road rage unfolded on a Bangkok street when a six-wheel truck driver chased and attacked a songthaew driver, resulting in a heated altercation and injuries. The violent confrontation, partially captured on video and posted online by the page "อยากดังเดี๋ยวจัดให้ ริเทริน์ part 7" (translated as "Want to Be Famous, We'll Make It Happen, Part 7"), has sparked widespread public concern. The video shows the aftermath of the quarrel, with the post urging drivers to remain calm and considerate on the road. The caption read, "Stay cool on the road and show some courtesy. Let the law decide who's at fault." According to Ms. Benjawan, 36, the daughter of Mr. Add, the songthaew driver involved, her father was driving in the right lane when the six-wheel truck attempted to overtake him but failed. Frustrated, the truck driver tailgated aggressively, reportedly colliding with the back of the songthaew. Mr. Add stopped to confront the truck driver, warning him about the dangers of tailgating. This initial argument set the stage for the escalating violence. Later, while Mr. Add was picking up passengers, the truck returned, sideswiped the songthaew, and deliberately rammed it again before speeding off. Both vehicles eventually stopped at a red light, where the confrontation took a dangerous turn. Armed with knives, both drivers faced off. The truck driver retreated to his vehicle when confronted with Mr. Add's larger blade, but not before damaging the songthaew's windshield. The violence didn't end there. When the vehicles stopped again, the truck driver approached Mr. Add, who was sitting inside the songthaew, and slashed him with a knife, causing a wound near his eve. Mr. Add defended himself from within the vehicle and later retaliated by punching one of the truck's tyre. Mr. Add reported the incident to Lak Song Police Station. However, his family claims that investigators attempted to downplay the severity of the attack. They were reportedly encouraged to agree that Mr. Add's injury was caused by the truck tyre bursting, not a knife wound. Furthermore, police suggested treating the case as a mutual altercation rather than pursuing serious charges. Ms. Benjawan expressed frustration over the handling of the case, emphasising her father's role as the victim. She called for justice and urged authorities to investigate thoroughly. The family plans to file additional charges of attempted murder, pending medical reports, and is determined to ensure the assailant faces legal consequences. The incident has sparked outrage online, with netizens calling for stricter enforcement of road safety laws and harsher penalties for aggressive drivers. Many have expressed sympathy for Mr. Add and criticised the police for allegedly mishandling the case. As investigations continue, the family hopes their pursuit of justice will set a precedent, ensuring such violent road rage incidents are addressed with the seriousness they deserve.
