HCMC mulls bicycle lane along highway

The Ho Chi Minh City transport department wants to open an exclusive lane for cyclists and pedestrians along Hanoi Highway, a vital route at the city's eastern entrance.

 

Tran Quang Lam, director of the HCMC Department of Transport, has requested the Roads Management Center and relevant authorities to look into opening a separate lane for cyclists and pedestrians along Hanoi Highway. Plans must be sent to the department within July, he said.

 

The decision followed a governmental resolution to maintain traffic safety and combat congestion, which considers a bicycle lane in HCMC. Currently, bicycles and motorbikes simultaneously utilize Hanoi Highway.
