Popular Post KIngsofisaan Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 Why do people move to Thailand and Complain How Much Things Cost? Did you really expect the prices would remain the same your entire life? People complaining about things costing an extra 10 baht. My gosh. What happens over the years when prices really increase? 15 14 2 4
Popular Post Hummin Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 Right now there is complaints about rising prices all over the world. 17 1 1
Popular Post captainjackS Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 Are you referring to local product price increases, fuel prices, or excessive import taxes on some items? I often find myself complaining about import tax too when i want to buy something "nice" from outside Thailand (tools, electronics, beer, wine), but then stop myself when i think of all the other necessities of life that are more affordable and accessible here than in US (housing, income tax, medical, insurance, services) 13 1

Popular Post FalangKino Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 Because they are bitter old men who think they should be living like millionaires here while on 500 quid a month pensions 17 4 10
Popular Post Lacessit Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 I'd be complaining if I was still in Australia. Don't have any complaints about the COL in Thailand. 14 1
Popular Post Padthaigoong Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 Probably because the years after the Asian financial crisis and devaluation of the Baht created a powerful narrative that still exists today...Thailand is cheap And then they realise that was 15 years ago. 14 2
Popular Post moogradod Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 I moved here from Switzerland where a lot of things are expensive (in fairness it needs to be mentioned that they are as well of high quality). And many things here are not so expensive. But some are overly expensive. I am complaining about the price of exactly the same good sold here at 4-5 times the price (some even more) which cannot be justified by anything real (purchase price, logistics like transport, storage etc.). Most probably this is due to tax which is excessive for some items and nothing short of a simple rip-off. Unfortunately this does not only apply to luxury items like sport cars etc. which I do not need to buy that frequently ????, but to simple things like orange juice or risotto rice. There is no delicious orange juice available here (something like "Andros") or apple juice (line Gravensteiner) - even irrespective of price for the imported (a bit better) ones which sell at exuberant rip-off prices. I think that these are specific product ranges that some are complaining about (think "wine" - guess there are a lot who are not that happy with the pricing). 11 2
Onerak Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 I don't complain. I voluntarily stay 6-month in Thailand to avoid oppressive heat in Las Vegas and some sea breeze on Jomtien beaches. If I could afford I would have moved to California. But I don't think I could purchase a house in California coasts after selling my house in IL and my condo in Las Vegas that generates nice income for me through AirBnb. 1

You are absolutely correct. But 15 years ago items on sale were limited, too. Now the good news is that this is changing but it comes at a price that is unjustifiable. Prices for some goods are artificially inflated. I think this need not be the case. 8 1
Popular Post Mac Mickmanus Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 I used to enjoy cashew nuts in Thailand because they seemed cheap . Now in the U.K , I noticed that cashew nuts are cheaper in the UK than in Thailand 1 3

Lots of folks, through their own admissions, moved to Thailand because it is cheaper than their home country. Then they complain if prices go up. Because the bah bus or whatever goes up 10 baht, what is the reason for complaining? Is 10 extra baht really hurting some folks that much? 4
Popular Post Kwasaki Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 Haven't seen or noticed much increases in costs apart from fuel and bread. 4 1

I belive in my experience most complain about the exchange rate and then the prices of things that affects them in the daily life. I remember when exchange rates was almost double compare to now, and still I do not feel it is expensive here In Thailand, except I drink quality wine, eat quality grapes and cheese, beef, lamb, caviar drive BMW then it is expensive. I feel more sorry for most locals with families 5 1
Popular Post Adumbration Posted June 26, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2022 I don't complain about price, just the abissmal customer service that surrounds the sale of any Thai product. 5 2

I say "That is absurdly expensive". Then they remind me that I have not seen US prices for over 12 years. The price of an average car is now more than I paid for my first house! 3

Popular Post swm59nj Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 Because a lot of people come here with a bare bones amount of money and income to begin with. So they complain they can’t make it in their own country. And complain because they can barely make it here. 5
Popular Post blazes Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 As a Canadian, I would willingly pay an extra 10 baht on everything in exchange for 6 months of sunshine and heat between November and April...... But I sure wish those taxes on wine were lowered... 3
sawadee1947 Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Because they were complaining in their home country too. Beside, many of them got only a small pension. 2
