Anyone can now grow cannabis plants at home following registration with authorities via a mobile app as well as use and sell them in Thailand. The change in the law comes after the country decriminalized cannabis and hemp on June 9, making it the first country in Asia to remove the plant from its narcotics control list.

The main purposes of the plant’s legalization are for health and medical reasons as well as economic benefits but not for recreational use.

Food vendors and operators have capitalized on the relaxation in the law and come up with a range of new products featuring the weed. These range from noodles to pasta, brownies to cookies, and coffee to juices to serve the needs of consumers who are interested in experimenting with the happy edibles and users who don’t like to smoke pot but enjoy the sensation it gives.

To sell and serve marijuana-based food and drink products, food vendors and operators must abide by the regulations, the main one being that the edibles must contain less than 0.2% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) by weight. A higher percentage in cannabis and hemp extracts remain illegal.

THC is the main component of cannabis responsible for making people feel high.

There is a fine line between use and abuse, same as with many things.

Goes for alcohol, coffee ,cigarettes and most other things in life.

It is up to each individual to find out where that line is.

Yes edibles can sneak up on you,you take some and you feel no effect so you take some

more and then it hits you like a train!

It can take up to an hour to show effect where as smoking it is basically instantaneous .

I take edibles because i do not like to smoke, sure helps me sleep!

The problem with ingesting it is you have no idea of the dose and the effect, it's a gamble and often not a nice result.

i've smoked weed for decades and i haven't been able to find the sweet spot with the edibles.  i feel nothing or it is way too much.  this is using candies and gummy bears legalized in the state of washington in USA back in 2014.  out of my group of long term friends (six of us), two of us don't seem to take too well to the edibles.  the other four love them.

i understand the delayed effect.  i've tried half the candy or gummy bear and nothing.  days later i try the full one, it is too much.  paranoia sets in sometimes, i keep trying as i would love them to work but so far not so much.

edit:  with the items noted above, you do know how much you are taking.  it is labeled properly.

Now you have the ability to grow your own and make your own edibles, easy to figure out the dose and take it from there.

And what will be the situation if you take them or are given them unknowingly in some food or drink, I most certainly don’t want the stuff but what’s the situation if I find I have been given it.

It's like MSG they tell you it's not in your food but you can taste it. It will be in almost all the foods soon enough if you eat out. So if you still want to eat out bring a dog well trained, to sniff out weed for you. It will just be too hard to police.

My daughter works in the ER section of a major hospital in a large city. She told me she often treats victims of marijuana overdose in food items. One victim had her stomach pumped and then had to be strapped down in a bed for hours because she was going crazy and cutting herself.

Some of the worst experiences of my life followed eating items with cannabis in them, smoking no problem as you know when you have had enough.

Exactly right, it's bad enough under the most strict THC guideline measurements being added.  But TIT and I'm sure each batch will be different..

Had a friend in uk who was tested prior to going offshore, north sea, and came up positive. Friend had put it in his curry, for a laugh.

Lost his job and no longer allowed offshore anywhere in uk.

Haven't worked for years in Thailand but last job was random tests twice a week on the project.

The fact it's now being touted as legal I don't think will be a defence in the workplace.

Yep. True. Usually very long lasting and if you don't know what's coming it can freak you out. Having said this it's a good way of taking it. No smoke in the lungs.

What's your opinion on companies doing random tests for cannabis on their workers at varoius times?

Great idea, though as Cannabis is now legal, you would have to have something in your contract that bars you from ingesting Cannabis, otherwise it wouldn't matter.

Just because Cannabis is now decriminalized it doesn't mean that people will turn up to work stoned and those that do would have more than likely turned up with a few drinks in their belly if Cannibis were not available.

The world is not going to end, life is going on as normal, aside from a few "Reefer Madness' style works of fiction doing the rounds.

Please, as I took the time to answer your question, please advise me on your thoughts on how come people are able to go to work sober and function without random alcohol tests?

Sounds like BS to me.

100% true on the north sea story.

Last project I worked on in Thailand was in LamChabang and alcohol/drug testing was carried out usually twice a week  6 names pulled from the full list at the morning toolbox meetings.

Oz friend on his last project in Oz along with all others was breath tested every morning at the gate on the way in.

If he got sacked for failing a cannabis test, it was because he was smoking it, then lied to avoid the consequences of his actions.

To me it would very much depend on the job.  If the job is one where taking cannabis (or alcohol or aother drugs) could be a danger especially to others then I think it is entirely justified.  If I was taking a flight I would not like to think the pilot could be even slightly stoned or <deleted>.  The stewardesses I would not be quite so concerned about and the airline could assess over a period wether they are doing their job well or not.

See my next post.

For North Sea it didn't matter what your job was.

I had some hash chocolate brownies recently. Not sure what % THC was in there but I was absolutely stoned out of mind within an hour and had the best night's sleep I'd had in ages.

I suspect not everyone is following this 0.2% rule.

I'll be buying some more of those brownies, plus some weed and a pipe for smoking next week.

Well done. Enjoy.

My opinion is its BS. Luckily, I have never had to work for a company that tests for cannabis.

Becoming quite common now for companies to test for what is termed substance/alcohol abuse so it aint BS.

Different companies will have different reactions to positive test but that will probably be noted in the employment contract. Dome will sack outright and some may have 'help' services.

Any kind of Maritime Co does drug testing. My Co did random testing monthly, and of course if you were involved in an accident you were drug tested. All regardless of your job.
