Which is why My Place became the primary pub and hang out at.  If you wanted to buy the staff a drink they all appreciated the gesture but they weren't supplying escort services.  It generally was one bartender, one wait staff, and a cook.  It was just a nice low-key place to hang out and get something to eat and watch sports on TV.

I used to attend 'Star Six' for the 11pm 'artistic shows[', it was 150bht entrance fee including your first beer. No requirement to buy additional drinks or stuff 20bht notes in the 'artists' knickers (if they were wearing any).

Soon it will be lady joints and stoned giggles with the girls

And naturally, as it is with lady drinks, the "lady joints" will be diluted so as to maximize profit. They'll probably roll up some crappy hemp leaf.

I would say buying a drink is all that's required for at least a 30 minute 'permission to sit' in any bar.

So a guy without any clothes, body smeared in feces, urinating on the tables and shouting obscenities can have a seat for 30 minutes if he buys a beer?

Places even a well groomed and behaved black man can not get a seat even if he wants to buy the most expensive wine.

My last remaining pal on this earth is black as the ace of spades.

I've been in many LK bars with him, and we've never had any problems getting served.

There have been quite a few unpleasant situations happen with ladyboys in that area .

I used to take a  soi back home (by the petrol station) where a few LB's used to ply their trade and they'd usually offer their services and I just put my head down and hurried off ignoring them .

Previously I had acknowledged them and politely  turn down their request and they came walking behind me trying to pick a fight , trying to pick a fight and one hand in their handbag .

Another time I saw a Chinese guy drive up on a motorbike and stop and talk to them and they flashed their breasts to him , he went to drive off and they pushed him off his motorbike and gave him a beating .

I spoke to another felang one night walking down LK who had just been bottled in a bar and he was trying to get revenge on the LB who did it by hitting her back .

I convinced him to just go home

I can't say, haven't been in a bar since Siem Reap the day before the borders closed (March 2020). All my pals died or left Thailand before then.

But prior to that I had some good nights out in LK, don't mind buying a lady drink for a woman under 35 years old and weighing under 50Kg.

Usually any problems (for me) in LK bars are caused by white male tourists, not hookers or LBs.

Some White males do cause problems when they see Felangs with underaged girls .

Confirmed. Got into it with some White dude that told me he was the owner of Candy club and i couldnt stand on the other side of the street talking to 2 dudes and that the cops were coming..

Did you spend the night standing across the road from the Club, with a bottle of Sangsom  in your hand and being "at" the Club, but outside ?

That is not true .

There was no nudity allowed in that Club , not even topless , let alone  ping pong shows

That isn't such an extortionate price actually .

A glass of white wine for 250 odd Baht and a ladys drink the same price .

That isn't an unreasonable price

I would just like to make it clear that the fact the perpetrator was a ladyboy, is just that, a fact. In no way was I singling out that particular gender for condemnation. We all know there's good and bad in all sections of society. However the ladyboys are quite prominent in the news for committing violence and theft. You can add and subtract their junk as much as you like but in my opinion it doesn't seem to change the mind set.

Typical Thai behaviour. “My misfortune is YOUR fault”.

The above statement mostly applies to those who till through hookers and begging women at the bars and dating apps.

As for the typical Thai friends I know, they are hard working and accountable.

so I suppose it depends on what type of bubble one lives in.

After viewing some recent you tube videos taken in Loy Kroh Road, I can confirm it was not the Curve Bar.

I recall collecting black stars and sticking them on the wall

Came here six years ago, determined to avoid the bars and the hookers. I have had relationships with three women with jobs completely unrelated to bars and prostitution. Sadly, I have noticed that very many Thai women differ very little from bargirls in their mercenary approach to relationships. I am not having a relationship with your family and they need to look after their own affairs. I resent being the “family ATM”.

That is a new bar recently opened .

Bars in that area have been regularly closing down for the last five years   about 50 bars in that area have closed down in the last ten years and there are just a few bars left .

There was also a bar on the same premises that closed down last year .

Who had the bright idea that that location would be a great place to open a bar ?

If I put myself is a situation that I resent then it’s my fault, not the fault of those I enable around me and I sure wouldn’t publicly complain about it.

A lot of guys come here looking for something young and fresh on the dating apps believing that some how they’ll be able to secure the relationship free of the family. Well sorry to break it to you but the world doesn’t work that way in any country.

I would suggest staying off the dating apps because I’m sure most are there looking for a free ride. Unless of course your intent is to throw money at short term gratifications or a long term money pit.

I don’t think it’s fair to generalize and lump an entire group of people based on the experience of a few disgruntled loud complainers whose situation is of their own.

And the closing act in the shower cubicle alway looked naked to me.

It was all in the best possible taste.

They were wearing lycra swimsuits that became semi transparent when they became wet and with a infra red light shone on them .

That is one of the saddest places that I've ever been . Older single western guys sitting along in a small club with a bottle of beer staring at a woman on stage wearing a swimsuit  and hoping to get a glimpse of breast or a quick flash of their genitals .

   Sad, miserable and depressing

If that was the case what attracted you to the premises then?

What did you go to look at, was it the decor and did it meet your expectations?

There is nothing "party" about it .

A few older Western guys sitting in their own in a dark corner , slowly drinking their beer and sitting there all night hoping to see some naked female flesh

I have to admit.  After living here since 2007 - I never made it to Star Six.
I sorta liked my "artistic shows" in the confines of a hotel room - or - wherever.   You know... <laughs>
