Cloning your cannabis plants.

My first Thai breed plant is ready for pruning!

So here are the instructions on how to make clones from your cuttings.

There are basically 4 methods:

1. stand in a glass off water.

2. place in a Rockwool plug.

3. bucket with bubbler and fountain (these are the cloners you buy on Amazon).

4. humidifier (my invention)

1. May work, or it may not, but at least it costs you nothing (I have a 30% success with this method).

2. Some people swear by this, mine all die.

3. Made one of these with a bucket, an aquarium bubbler, a pump and some spray nozzles, worked well but algae kept blocking the nozzles, 100% success rate.

4. Humidifier and a bit of foam packing, works 100%, but you do need to refill the humidifier tank every day, it's fastest method as well, rooted in under 7 days.

I'm using a Deerma F600 5l humidifier, around 500bht from Shopee

Steps,

1. pull the top off your humidifier, cut some foam to fit in the mist outlet hole, cut a slot in the foam to hold the cutting.

2. Select your plant and choose a cutting to take around 2 inches long (I'm topping my plant so that's my cutting).

Decide where your plant needs to be pruned, just above a pair of leaves, cut and return your topped plant to your grow area.

3. Make a clean diagonal cut to the bottom of your cutting, put it in a cup of water or growth hormone while you fiddle around.

The leaves of the cutting will immediately begin to droop, don't leave it to dry out at any time. Ideally you want a diagonal cut bottom, and two leaves at the top of the cutting.

4. Trim the top and the leaves, you don't want too much green, and the very top of a plant won't grow well. Insert the cutting in the foam and place loosely in the top of the humidifier. You cutting leaves will droop at the start, but within an hour the leaves should be firm and upright again. If you want to make more clones at the same time, make more slots in the foam or build an enclosure to hold more over the top off the humidifier.

Just in and drooping

30 minutes later and the leaves have recovered.

The rooted clones should be ready to pot up in around 5-7 days (here's one I did last year).

Warning!

Don't completely block the outlet of the humidifier, as it will cause it to heat up and 'cook' your cutting.

Humidifier

I wonder what the difference would be by not using a humidifier?

Where can I get some seeds or a starter plants to begin?

I just take the cutting as described, clean knife/razor, cut at 45% angle, not too many leaves or too big, dip it into bit of rooting compound , make a hole in small cup of good dirt with pencil, stick cutting in and tap dirt around it...then take old big plastic coke bottle, cut top off and make a "dome" leaving the cap off....creates a nice humid atmosphere.....keep it watered and in medium sunlight and in week or so get roots on most all of them...then transplant to bigger container....maybe just lucky but works well for me and pretty simple to do.

Wet or dry dirt?

And do you water the cuttings at all?

I've only ever ended up with dead cuttings this way.

moist dirt...yes water lightly...the dome will form condensation as well that drips back down

Clonex (you can get on lazada) rockwool cubes and a humidity dome. Put a led light on them.
super easy, I’ve cloned thousands of times

But that’s a cool cloning machine you made

CloneX is imported so it is expensive.

'Amazing Gro' rooting gel is essentially the same but cheaper and if you need a rooting nutrient solution B1 is cheap. Both on Lazada or Shopee.

Another great thread Britman. I remember years ago when I was way more invested in my horticulture lol there used to be some excellent cloning gels around that for me at least had a very high success rate.
