Masks - Why still now?
If you read my notes, you will see that I always tell folks that it is their choice to do or not to do. This is an "opinion forum" and just like you, I have an opinion and I usually say IMHO but that should be understood on this forum. You don't have to get all upset, as I never told you that you HAD to wear a mask. You seem like a lot of other folks on this forum that think it is for you only, but again, it is an opinion forum and opinions are just like <deleted>, everyone has one. sorry if you misinterpret my comments. -

Credit card fees
Regarding conversation of foreign currency to USD and then to home currency (THB), this is how the majority of cards work, and not just in Thailand. Card companies do this to manage risk and standardise procedures. They don't want to have to directly convert two obscure currencies because their wouldn't be much of a market for it and the rates would be horrific. If you hired a car in Kazakhstan, they might struggle to exchange Tenge directly to Baht. Does this rule benefit them with major currencies such as Euro, Pound, Yen, etc? Of course, they wouldn't have it any other way. -

British Fugitive Arrested in Phuket After Violent Brawl in Bangkok
Unfortunately us law-abiding long term expats who have lived here more than 20 years have to report to immigration every 90 days or when we travel because of idiots like ths 26 yaer old . The idiot thought if he went to Phuket he could enjoy the rest of his holiday and evade the police, should have cut his holiday short and crossed one of the land borders. -

Large Cleveland Clinic study shows a +27% increase getting the flu for flu-shot takers
If some of you are still thinking that the nation’s health is built on universal vaccination protocols you might examine the results of research more closely. The Cleveland Clinic is a prestigious medical institution in Ohio. It is consistently ranked as one of the best hospitals in the United States. For the past twenty years in the fields of cardiology, heart, and vascular surgery, Cleveland Clinic has been ranked and regarded as the best and highest-performing hospital in the world. It requires regular vaccination for its 54,402 staff, but allows applications for exemptions on medical or religious grounds. In 2024/25 it mandated the flu vaccine. In all, 43,857 staff (82%) received the vaccine. The remainder received exemptions and were unvaccinated. A study approved by the Clinic has just been published on MedRxiv under the title “Effectiveness of the Influenza Vaccine During the 2024-2025 Respiratory Viral Season“. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.01.30.25321421v3 It examines the outcomes of the vaccination program over a 25 week period. It found: “Over the course of the study the cumulative incidence of influenza increased more rapidly among the vaccinated than the unvaccinated. In an analysis adjusted for age, sex, clinical nursing job, and employment location, the risk of influenza was significantly higher for the vaccinated compared to the unvaccinated state (HR, 1.27; 95% C.I., 1.07 – 1.51; P = 0.007), yielding a calculated vaccine effectiveness of −26.9% (95% C.I., −55.0 to −6.6%).” In other words the flu shot predisposed its staff to become infected with influenza—a negative effectiveness. The results are challenging to the accepted flu vaccination protection paradigm. Sometimes it is necessary to go back to basics to examine the fundamentals of what we believe in and what we do. A message that has never been more timely than today. Increasingly, public messaging is being based on belief, ideology and advertising tricks rather than science and common sense. The effect of this mistake is exacerbated by the rapid changes taking place in medicine, food and technology. Source: https://hatchardreport.com/civilisations-are-overwhelmed-by-their-own-excesses/
