HCMC may advise foreign entrants suspected of having monkeypox to self-isolate themselves for 21 days, the city’s Center for Disease Control (CDC) said Thursday.

Nguyen Hong Tam, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City CDC, said the 21-day isolation was recommended by the WHO. However, the Ministry of Health is yet to issue any instruction regarding HCMC’s proposal or the WHO recommendation.

The city had also requested the health ministry Wednesday to require all foreign entrants to submit health declarations upon entry over fears of a potential monkeypox outbreak. Those at high-risk or have potential symptoms would be moved to a separate area for health check and questioning regarding their medical history.
