A FOREIGN man wanted for having caught endangered parrotfish off Koh Phi Phi Leh Island, Krabi province, as seen in a TikTok video clip that enraged Thai netizens has now apologised for having done so, Sanook.com said today (August 13).

In the video clip that he has already removed he can be standing near the boat’s captain and holding three parrotfish and two other unidentified fish in one hand and showing a stabbed sea eel in the other.

In replying to strong criticism from Thais, the unnamed foreigner posted this message on his TikTok channel:

Seems to be more flak directed at this tourist than the officials who allowed Mountain B to remain open and it's grifting owner to finagle his way out of a jail cell.

Thialand has its  priorities properly up the ying-yang.

He was granted bail... No finagle about it.

Professional globetrotting spearfisherman or not, if he truly is someone who travels and catches fish, he should have known that there are places (usually beautiful tourist places) where fishing is forbidden! For him to reach his self-acclaimed status of prospearfishery, he really can't claim he didn't know better.

But, as others have posted... it isn't as if he's been murdering children, and there are more-important things in the news and the world.

Quite right!

As always, This is Thailand.

Where there's rule of law, the media would have cameras poking in the Captain's face as "breaking news".

Let's be honest, the "enraged netizens" were probably xenophobic trolls for the most part.

He broke the law, but so do every one of us who've ever engaged the services of the local demimondaines.

And have you ever seen a "laws not to break in Thailand" blog that has ever included "whatever you do, leave the marine and wildlife in peace."?

I haven't!

It's all useless garbage like: "Don't do drugs on pain of the BKK Hilton!" (but there are drugs openly advertised on Koh Lanta, Full moon etc.) and another useless rule:

"Don't go commando, or drive shirtless?"

I should be arrested on sight daily for not wearing y-fronts????

So, I'm on his side because Thai law, and most netizens, are cray-cray.????

No doubt the poster who went off on a massive rant earlier, could probably do with a relaxing illegal "massage" but can't afford one, poor thing! ????

there is no way any serious spear fisherman would even spear the small parrot fish he had  or the eel, I did spearfishing for many years, I would not embarrass myself with those fish. What also has to be realized is that the boat captain is the one responsible for taking him into a natioanl park and not informing him of the laws, probably was more interested in getting some extra money. The captain is the one that needs to be charged as he is responsible for what happens on his boat and should be well aware of what is and is not allowed but then again being thai the police would not be as interested in him as they would a farang. As for being a professional spear fisherman, what a total load of BS, just another yahoo making himself out to be something he isnt

I agreed with you until I got to this part... You are overly sensitive and shouldn't give a rat's ___ if people disagree with you.

To the Guillotine with him...????

I don't give a rat's what you agree with, mind your own business, I wasn't talking to you.

There's a reason I added that last sentence, to filter out the the unprofessionals and the unaccountable's.

I reckon you're the sensitive one by your worthless comment.

lol. Maybe wrong but it’s all on the Thai captain. If a Thai were standing there with couple fish it wouldn’t be a thing. Perhaps wind neck in a bit.

Put on ignore

It's he that sent me the antagonizing comment.

It's me that should ignore.

What an ignorant comment.

He broke the law????? They invent laws by the day. A few years back there was a raid in a bar in Pattaya as they were playing darts and that was forbidden. There was no law but was invented suddenly.. So nobody knows the law in the Thailand because it depends who is doing what and when and how....But foreigners are easy to blame, but Thai people don't have the same laws...

Oh, it's you again, you've got a lot to say for an unprofessional.

BTW, I often read many comments from members I don't agree with, I don't reply with hostility or make an antagonizing comment, I move on and read the next.

I rarely reply to members comments, if I do, I comment professionally. Sadly I often get unprovoked hostile replies to my comments.

It's the juvenile that need to reply with childish comments and hostility.

It's the mature that can ignore and move on.

From the article.....".The department coordinated with Marine and Coastal Resources Office 10 in solving this case with the latter having found out that the fishing boat’s name is “Ewarin ” and the perpetrators are being pursued for legal action."

They make it sound like  he is major gangster?? He caught some fish? Amazing Thailand?

All I saw in your original post is 'aggression'.

And now a sophism is added. Aggressors are all children hehehe.

Might very well be that a professional spear fisher might not know and be able to quickly recognize all the fish in all oceans or any body of water.

And you would be a professional at identifying what all other professionals should know. Lots of work in there, particularly in Thailand....

Starting with lots of professional drivers here...

No he wasn't, police enquiries were ongoing and he hadn't been arrested.  He left shortly before the arrest warrant was to be presented to his lawyer.
