webfact Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Picture: Siam Rath Poster boy cop of the Royal Thai Police Pol Lt-Gen Surachate Hakpan was in Phuket yesterday checking up on his boss's much vaunted Special Safety Zone 4.0 community policing initiative. But during his tour he found plenty of things wrong in the Thalang Road area and told local contractors and officers to get their fingers out and make repairs. First, as reported by Siam Rath, was his observation that there were not enough safety barriers on some repairs to the footpaths. He told the contractor to get it sorted lest there be an accident to members of the public. Then outside a well known restaurant called Raya he noticed that the markings on a Zebra Crossing were faded and this could cause accidents. Picture: Siam Rath He told the Muang district police chief and his deputy to contact the relevant authorities to make repairs. In relation to Smart Safety Zone 4.0 he said it was so much more than CCTV - it was all about the police and the community working together for better outcomes. ASEAN NOW notes that Surachate has been put in charge of reviewing the community policing plan that is the baby of soon to retire RTP chief Pol Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk. It won an award for community policing in Dubai but few members of the public have a clue what it is. Surachate - known universally by the moniker Big Joke - says that after pilot projects the safety zone plans will be increasingly rolled out. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-08-16 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. JoePai Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Footpaths - he obviously did not look out of his tinted car's windows when he visited Pattaya not so long ago ! 1
smedly Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 over the last couple of weeks they have been out painting road markings around Pattaya which is great if they would use a quality product fit for purpose - they are fading already, use the cheapest ## possible which turns out to be a complete waste of money 1
Popular Post richard_smith237 Posted August 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 16, 2022 Does it matter how well painted the pedestrian crossings are when motorists ignore them anyway ??? 7 1
Popular Post richard_smith237 Posted August 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 16, 2022 This photo is missing two key elements... - no one pointing at the potholes... - no twigs sticking out of a nearby drain to alert motorists to the hazard... 1 5

There needs to be a massive graphic campaign on tv, police actually enforcing the laws, I watched a vlog from Vietnam last night, everyone wearing crash hats. 1
PETERTHEEATER Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Good to see he is excercising his right NOT to wear a face covering........ 1

sammieuk1 Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 This guy is depicting the size of the wedge required to fill the hole after disbursements ????
Old Croc Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 If they repaint zebra crossings to make them stand out, more pedestrians might use them. Ergo more road deaths. 1
