Thaksin comes out to call on Prayut to step down ahead of 8-year term to avoid damaging judiciary

Self-exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra came out to recommend incumbent Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to step down before the 8-year term is reached on August 24 this year as him staying in power could damage the reputation of the judiciary and also the office of the Prime Minister.

 

“After 8-years in power, he (Prayut) should step down and not allow this issue to reach the courts, because if the court finds ways to justify having him to continue, it would be damaging to the judiciary and the system,” Thaksin said during his bi-weekly talk on Clubhouse.

 

Prayut, who is facing mounting calls to step down ahead of the 8-year term approaches on August 24, has been adamant on not stepping down as he and his entourage feel that the date from which the 8-year term should be counted should be from the date that the 2017 constitution was signed off by HM the King on April 6, 2017.

Well constitution can be rewritten like it had been done multiple times by Junta. Funny Thaksin say that when he and his whole family of prime ministers has been upstaged by Junta several times.

There is no judiciary system in Thailand. It is the system who pays most wins.....Many examples And yes Prayuth has to step down as he proved that he only damaged the country and no please no Thaksins again, as they filled their pockets enough already. Lift the ban of some candidates and leth them prove that they have a view and help the country forward.

Thaksin will be arrested upon arrival in the US for a $350 million US fraud case filed by a former investor in Thakin's cable company....he did visit under diplomatic immunity when he attended the UN in NYC...he can not win the case

51 scholars and professors from leading university law schools confirm that on August 24, Prayut's 8 years as country leader will be over.

 

Only Prayut and his friends "feel" that it is not so. Thailand's already badly sabotaged "democracy" is once again at a crossroad.

 

After the military coup (according to the old constitution, the death penalty was actually intended for the putschists) there is now once again a legal coup (after a new constitution was just written that provides permanent impunity for putschists,  equipped the Senate with 250 unelected senators, uses permanent martial law and prohibits freedom of political assembly).

Thaksin and his sister Yingluck were elected by a free and fair election by the people of Thailand.

 

Any military coup is treason against the elected government.

 

Yingluck was still the PM of a caretaker government and was planning the next free and fair election for the Thai people. As for the outstanding charges against them both, they were brought as a result of 2 military coups.

 

What I find difficult to understand is that not one member of any military coup (and Thailand has had many) has ever been brought to a trial.

Just because it is written in the constitution doesn't mean very much.

I personally assume, that Prayut will be the sacrificed lamb in order to keep all the others nicely on top of the sludge. Prawit is the puppet master as we know and Anutin is in the wings for a higher office after Thammanat goofed up badly due to his attitude problems. 

Lets hope that I am right; possibly it needs proper riots and uprisings everywhere as this country is in free fall for the time being and all this on the expense of 98% of the population. 

Take Prayut's recent brunt on the issue of electricity price increase where he challenged the Thai electorate to study the reasons and then accept the rise like orderly Buddhists would do. What a sick mind .....

Because he doesn't come back to Thailand where he'll be immediately thrown in jail if he ever does show up here. Thaksin is a crook and should be ignored. His one hope is that someday he'll triumphantly be returned to power which he obtained by bribing half the country (Issan) and will do it again.  

 

These last 8 years have been far better than under Thaksin and his equally crooked and useless daughter/niece/sister (whatever) Yingluck. There is far less corruption now. I think he did a good job during covid and I support him. There is no political party that could take over from Prayut and reasonably be expected to govern. I would expect any change in government to devolve into anarchy within a year. When Prayut took over that's where we were with Yingluck, anarchy. I continue to support our beloved dictator. He isn't going anywhere.
