UK Passport renewal. Expire 24thJune2024

Featured Replies

When should I renew my passport, and with whom.

I do not live is Bkk.

I hold a retirement visa , money in the bank type.

Keyvisa did mine for me 1year before renewal I just follow instructions, posted stuff by EMS.

I took copies of all pages of my passport.

Their charge was 5000 baht.

I paid my passport fees by a Visa signed form for HMPO to take.

Renew via VFS  in either Bangkok or Chiang Mai. You could also use an agent to do it.

With 18 months left on your present one you are a little premature !

I suspect there is a fault in the spacetime continuum.

This year is 2022 (and yes, I did actually go and check in case I was finally losing it) ????

What ? we are in August 2022 not 2023

I'd leave it until about 8 months before expiry (October 2023) - the new passport starts from the new date of issue, so you'd want to minimise the months lost.  Surely by October 2023 HMPO will have got their act together!!

Things must have changed then.  I renewed my passport which had six months left via Trendy house in Bangkok four years ago.  The new passport arrived with ten years and six months to expiry date, no loss of time?

I seem to recall this has indeed changed within the last few years.

Yes things changed in 2018, from then HMPO no longer added up nine months of validity from passports being renewed.

This was one of the benefits of Brexit, as the UK became one the third nationality countries who had to comply with the rule that passports needed to be issued less than ten years previously to enter the EU, the rule didn't apply when the UK was a member of the EU.
