Popular Post Gottfrid
Mmmm.... Hurray! Let´s say that will double in the last 6 months. That would make it 2M + 4M. A number that stands for about 15 % of what they had. Good Luck with the other 85 %. Edited September 2, 2022 by Gottfrid 4

ezzra
Come December AirAsia X will start flying with very cheap fares to several destinations of quality tourists, unlike the fare gauging that going on at the moment with many airlines preventing more tourist to come to Thailand... 1

MikeyIdea
Why not, westerners and wealthy Indians are not afraid of covid-19 and are itching to travel. Russia and China won't travel though so lets say good recovery but not full recovery.
ikke1959
Every week/month we read about the recovery of tourism.... and nothing new only changing numbers from TAT which have no clue who are tourists and expats/businessmen/or Thai coming back from holiday etc.... every arrival is a tourist.. Luckily I am 2 times in the figures already
Popular Post John Drake
A tourism industry newspaper generating income from ginned up business. No conflict of interest at all. Popular Post ivor bigun
Well we live in Pattaya ,i have seen very few western tourists ,the most are Indians and certainly not rich ones ,just groups of men walking around ,some holding hands ,and they just walk into the road holding their arms out for you to stop for them . as for how much they spend ,dont see any in the bars on beach rd.
Popular Post billd766
As far as I understand from other topics and newspaper reports, Every foreigner who enters Thailand for whatever timespan is classed as a tourist. That includes expats going and returning to their homes in Thailand, every non Thai who crosses the border, even for an hour or two and doesn't stay overnight but may visit 3 or 4 times in a week, every non Thai who may come to do market shopping on a daily basis. To me a tourist is somebody who enters a country for a week or several or even a month on holiday. Perhaps they will stay in one place or maybe move around the country a few days here or there. Those would be the truer numbers of tourism and not the silly numbers that TAT spew out on a daily basis.

Russia and China won't travel though so lets say good recovery but not full recovery. Russia’s Aeroflot will resume direct flights to Phuket from October 30. As for good or full recovery of tourism in Thailand, there is a very long way to go, considering all the damage already done and the global economic crash in slow motion that will take years to play out, wiping off the middle class and savings. Well, they claim that over 1m arrived in July, traditionally low season, if they can maintain that, they will get 8m (only about 20% of what they had, good luck with the other 80%). With a following wind, they may make it to 10 million, kind of depends on geopolitics. There is enormous pent-up demand for tourism; Greece is so full right now that Greeks are complaining that if they want a cheap holiday, they have to go to Moldova, or somewhere like that. And try booking a tour from Thailand to Japan even for early next year....

Sure, many lower income level people are struggling, especially lower income level families but there are also many who still have money and they are itching to travel. Not going to be the old numbers of course, that will take a long time, but I do think we will be surprised in December. Aeroflot won't be flying many Boeings or Airbus's in December, most will be grounded due to lack of spare parts
