Hi,

Planning on returning to Thailand next month for approx. 6 month break after over 3 years back in UK.

I'm unsure about the current TM30 regulations. Do they apply to Tourist visa entries? When I left Thailand previously, a friend said they were starting to enforce it, although I can't seem to find any more recent info about it other than in relation to non-immigrant visas. I plan to stay with my gf at her condo. Will a TM30 need to be submitted for this, and would the landlord need to do it?

Also, would be interested in any recent feedback on getting a tourist visa in Vientiane or visa exempts from Cambodia border run, as I will need to either get another tourist visa or visa exempt to cover my stay. I understand visa exempts will now be 45 days from 1 October - is this for both air and land entries? Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks.

If you are planning to obtain extension (30 days) to your tourist visa and visa exempt entries you will need to provide TM30

Visa exempt is 45 days from Oct 1 both via air and land

I will be needing extensions to cover this period, but do you mean that TM30 registration is not required if you are not making an extension of some sort (as in going to immigration at Chaeng Wattana)?

Exactly.

The TM30 would only be needed if dealing with immigration (eg CW)

I've never needed anything tm30 related in any of my 13 last covid extensions at chiang mai, phuket, bangkok or samui.

You were lucky (very it would seem).

TM30 is often asked for for CE and 30 day extensions

Am I correct in asking "Is the TM30 the form that the landlord or hotel sends to Immigration when one checks in?"

From memory I think it is but......

TM this TM that.  how many different TM's are there and what do each  enable when authorised?

I do wonder how newbies to Thaiiland cope with all the acronyms  and various Forms required to ensure ones legal position. Then there is also mention of various coloured books, blue, yuellow, have I missed any?

TM6 - The immigration form we’d fill out on arrival (its been abolished - for now at least).

TM7 - Application form for extension of temporary stay in the Kingdom.

TM8 - Application form for re-entry to the Kingdom (re-entry permit).

TM9 - Application for permanent residence

TM18 -  Certificate of residence application form.

TM28 - The ‘change of address form’ (its been abolished for pretty much everyone).

TM30 - The form the ‘landlord’ (or hotel) fills out (usually online).

TM88 - Visa on arrival form (doesn’t impact most of us)

Blue house book (Blue Tabien Baan) - Condo registration book.

Blue house book (Blue Tabien Baan) - House registration book for Thai’s.

Yellow house book (Yellow Tabien Baan) - House registration book for foreigners.

Brown vehicle Registration book (for pre-registered cars on red plates)

Blue vehicle Registration book (for Cars - anyone can register a car in their name)

Green vehicle Registration book (for Motorcycles - anyone can register a car in their name)

-----------

There’s loads more TM’s than I listed above, but you get the idea.

Governments love their bureaucracy and Thailand is no different.

Thanks for that post answering my question above - and yes you're right - UK Govt for one LOVES its forms - every department, Tax, Motoring etc etc has an array of 'em.
