But covid-scared Thais gonna love it and spend all their money....

I love it… it’s potentially a great idea & I know Thailand has been researching this for a while.

Theres an interesting interview on ‘The Bangkok Podcast’ [S5.E71] in which Dr. Samaporn Teeravechyan (PhD in Virology from US) who works at the national centre for Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology - the Government arm focusing on scientific research, Dr. Samaporn is researching nasally delivered vaccines….

It’s an interesting listen & I wonder if there is any link to this product given the “human antibodies” angle.

That said, this product really seems far more like marketing quackery than anything else just because of the wording.

Just another cash-cow; is there no end to it!

Let's wait and see how much they charge for one of these sprays. Probably a case of the medical profession wanting to keep up their income stream as the pandemic is dying out a bit.

Certainly the shape of things to come. And if products like this can be used/adapted to prevent the common cold then what a boon! Many people like myself suffer heavy ENT symptoms; it's miserable.

On the other hand, if you are in the majority of people for whom a cold is just a sniffle then I can understand why you wouldn't be interested.  I think most people agree that allowing your body to naturally develop its own antibodies is the optimal solution- it's called a healthy immune system.

Could be invaluable for some though.

A nasal vaccine should be quite effective in preventing Covid infection. The latest WHO list of vaccine candidates has much more detail on vaccine projects than back in 2020. Now there are 172 vaccines on the clinical list, and number 38 is intranasal - Phase 3.

He explained that the spray is capable of preventing coronavirus from attaching to the internal surfaces of the nasal cavity,

This could be most useful to citizens who wear those chin sling cloths.....

Ah for christ sake, bedwetter bliss I guess so can't fault the marketing for selecting Thai audience, was hoping the nasty nostril irritating alcohol sanitizer sprayed liberally into the air in my proximity would be a distance memory of the past soon - you can smell it the moment the family on the table behind or the person across from you on the BTS has a minor panic attack since they accidentally touched the escalator and starts with the whole spray down their hand procedure... now this..

Don't worry, it won't be mandatory for you.....????

Since the label does not contain the word 'serum' I shall give it a miss.....

He explained that the spray is capable of preventing coronavirus from attaching to the internal surfaces of the nasal cavity,

So WD40 mixed with Vicks but has it been blessed by the holy man.

An anti-COVID nasal spray, an innovation jointly developed by Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), the Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University, the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) and Hibiocy Company, will be commercially available from October 1st

Just in time for the end.

This is interesting...  marketed as an ‘anti-covid nasal spray’...

Would this ‘coating’ in the nasal cavity also work for other respiratory viruses such as the common cold an influenza (my initial thought is that it may).

This could be an interesting product to use on flights to prevent picking up flu and colds as well.

I wonder what else is ‘in there’ as this Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose, otherwise known as Hypromellose is simply an emulsifier type substance used in many items such as eyedrops.

The ‘human antibodies’ part...  is that actual delivery of an antigen ?

It says it " reduces the viral load". Good, if accurate, nut a reduction while desirable is not neccesarily the same as prevention. Recall that they were also giving out Andrographis peniculata capsules as a treatment, which showed some efficacy in invitro, i.e petri dish, studies, but not in actual trials, as far as I know.

I will trust my four jabs, one mildish case of Covid, and continued masking, hand washing, etc., to hopefully prevent a recurrence." An ounce of prevention..." etc.
