Will Prayut return as PM? Ball in Constitutional Court

Featured Replies

The opposition petition asked the court for a ruling on whether Prayut had reached the eight-year term limit fixed by the Constitution for prime minister, arguing that he had begun serving in the position on August 24, 2014, following the military coup that he had led three months earlier.

Lets see if the constitutional court is impartial or not...

The Thai King officially appointed Prayut as PM of Thailand in August 2014. He was the only candidate put forward and told reporters after the ceremony that he was ready for the position of Prime Mini

Does it matter. Comparing Prayuth to Prawit, is like comparing Cardi B to Justin Bieber. P & P are both equally annoying, incapable and destructive. What Thailand needs is new blood, younger leade

  • It is up to the people controlling the country, not the court.  The decision has already been made long ago.

The only thing i can say with 100% certainty is.. the decision of the CC will have zero to do with what the law actually says...

Very astute.

His 8 years are definitely up. He only stays on if some loophole can be found by his friends at court.

What about the rest of his soldiers and their guns and tanks? The constitutional Court won't be able to live with that.

Yep. The CC is just front. They do as they are told.

In Thailand it is the guy with the most guns, the same in Myanmar.

And if so are they the "best before" dates?

My opinion for what is worth is that he should be reinstated as PM as be has brought peace and stability to Thailand especially as the caretaker PM has not really proved himself as being an experienced and capable leader.

He's waisted so much time for Thailand.

He's literally dragging Thailand down with his ineptitude and ultra conservative boondoggles.

Such a shame.

Of course he'll be reinstated. There was plenty of time for thick brown envelopes to make their way to the judges.  See how many of them will be driving new lambo's soon.

It's not even thick brown envelopes with this lot, it's decided above them. They just obey orders.

They were the ones who a) disbanded one of the major opposition parties for no good reason, and b) said it was fine for Goofy to live in an army house free, being a civilian and all. What do you think?

based on Meechai's say so.

Based on someone somewhat higher up the tree than Meechai. These clowns are just handpuppets for the actual boss.

????????????

Actually from an opposition point of view it is probably better the CC vote with Prayuth. That will drive the narrative and discord far more towards the votes next year than changing now. Many Thais have short memories and come 6 months down the line, many may have tempered views if the PPRP managed to do a few things to improve their image. Having him there or not make zero difference to the election schedule, so its almost worth keeping him from an opposition point of view.

Seems like he wants a break and has had enough....

hmmmm.... Is the pope a catholic? . Does the bear sh*t in the woods?

He might be the defense minister but rest assure he doesn't control it, that's in the hands of others just as it has always been,

Article 158 states: “The prime minister shall not hold office for more than eight years in total, whether or not consecutively. However, this shall not include the period during which the prime minister carries out duties after vacating the office.”

So that means he can "vacate the office", during which he remains PM, and take 10 years to find a suitable (acceptable to him) replacement.

May not regain the face, but certainly will regain the farce

The "Smirker" will return, you can bet on it, but i suppose better than Anutin from a smelly fallang point of view!
