Will Prayut return as PM? Ball in Constitutional Court

The opposition petition asked the court for a ruling on whether Prayut had reached the eight-year term limit fixed by the Constitution for prime minister, arguing that he had begun serving in the position on August 24, 2014, following the military coup that he had led three months earlier.

Lets see if the constitutional court is impartial or not...

The Thai King officially appointed Prayut as PM of Thailand in August 2014. He was the only candidate put forward and told reporters after the ceremony that he was ready for the position of Prime Minister and would work to restore democracy.

His 8 years are definitely up. He only stays on if some loophole can be found by his friends at court.

What about the rest of his soldiers and their guns and tanks? The constitutional Court won't be able to live with that.

It is up to the people controlling the country, not the court.  The decision has already been made long ago.

Yep. The CC is just front. They do as they are told.

Who elects a President, the population or the generals?

In Thailand it is the guy with the most guns, the same in Myanmar.

He's waisted so much time for Thailand.

He's literally dragging Thailand down with his ineptitude and ultra conservative boondoggles.

Such a shame.

Of course he'll be reinstated. There was plenty of time for thick brown envelopes to make their way to the judges.  See how many of them will be driving new lambo's soon.

It's not even thick brown envelopes with this lot, it's decided above them. They just obey orders.

They were the ones who a) disbanded one of the major opposition parties for no good reason, and b) said it was fine for Goofy to live in an army house free, being a civilian and all. What do you think?

based on Meechai's say so.

Based on someone somewhat higher up the tree than Meechai. These clowns are just handpuppets for the actual boss.

Actually from an opposition point of view it is probably better the CC vote with Prayuth. That will drive the narrative and discord far more towards the votes next year than changing now. Many Thais have short memories and come 6 months down the line, many may have tempered views if the PPRP managed to do a few things to improve their image. Having him there or not make zero difference to the election schedule, so its almost worth keeping him from an opposition point of view.

He might be the defense minister but rest assure he doesn't control it, that's in the hands of others just as it has always been,

Article 158 states: “The prime minister shall not hold office for more than eight years in total, whether or not consecutively. However, this shall not include the period during which the prime minister carries out duties after vacating the office.”

So that means he can "vacate the office", during which he remains PM, and take 10 years to find a suitable (acceptable to him) replacement.
