Police helmet checks in Hua Hin?

Featured Replies

Every town and province is different. Just curious how is it here in Hua Hin?

I see a good number of Thais riding without helmets as usual in Thailand. And a couple of Farang here and there without a helmet.

Do the police actively have checkpoints to check helmets and license etc as I've seen elsewhere?

Yes they do, randomly as usual.. They like the evening hours on the Klong road north of the city as one of the almost daily spots.. mornings I see them on Petchkasem rd in town…

Take care of your health and wear a helmet. If you need police checks to remind you of the easiest safety measures there is something seriously wrong, maybe about the body part which should be protected.

bit of a dumb question in my opinion.

people not wearing helmets here in Thailand deserve all that is coming their way.

fines, and hospital time..........idiots.

If you see Thais all wearing helmets then a road check, or a group of Thais waiting around, road check ahead. Just wear your helmet !

It amazes me (Udon Thani) knowing there are multiple stops scattered throughout the city. Usually with spotters … but you see Farangs and locals not wearing helmets.. .. .. find a comfortable helmet

whatever style…. … wear it for safety and to save money….

Whether they check or not to ride a bike anywhere in the world without a good quality, well-fitted helmet is just plain crazy. Have any of you ever heard the sound of a head hitting and cracking on the roadway?

Not like in other cities.  A few check points are set up on the larger roads now and again.  But rarely on the smaller soil.

I went to buy a helmet in Udon Thani. Out of about fifty helmets the only one was big enough was a pink one. I bought it so I don't know what the next farang is going to buy.

Like many things in Thailand, depends entirely on who you encounter on the day !

You could go months years and nothing, then get stopped 3 days in a row. Entirely luck of the draw in my opinion.

From a personal point of view, for your own health safety and particularly financial aspect, you would be silly NOT to wear one. One minor spill and you could be financially ruined or even a paraplegic ! STAY SAFE !

When I first came to Thailand many years ago I was riding without a helmet. One day while riding my motorcycle I rode into a swarm of bees and had many stings in the face and neck. So now I always wear a full face helmet, lesson learned.
