Beyond 9kbht for the mortgage there's not much to spend money on.

I paid 500 baht a night for a hotel room in Phuket. 30x 500 is 15,000 but monthly rate would have been 10,000 baht with room cleaning, free wifi and no power bills.

 

Plenty of monthly deals under 10,000 that are good.

You misunderstand me. I am not advocating living in a city, that too is a no no. I have a house 7 km from the town in a secure modern village complex. I am refering to a living in a Thai village in the middle of nowhere. Now thats a nightmare.
