Being a bikie I kind of disagree. But he should be deported for those tattoos.

Rooster

because they're bad tatts or because you just don't like tatts? I got over my 'hatred' of tatts a while ago and now I only complain if I see a dumb design.

ps. "bikie" is an Aussie term for a patched one-percenter, you really want those guys running around in Thailand?

A serious rap sheet upon entry to The Land of Smiles didn't seem to hinder his progress through passport control. Be interesting to know if he entered as a tourist or on a Non-B and why his criminal record didn't trigger any alarm bells.

One has to take into account that it is people like this character that provide off the books income for others MMMmmmm

Stupid? He's well out of the braindead weed class.

Already on his way to USA "quickly handed over to US authorities and deported from Thailand to face racketeering charges in the United States in short order." according to this report

Shane Ngakuru is the cousin of the worldwide leader of the motorcycle criminal gang The Comancheros which is active in organising huge drug shipments throughout the world. It is understood that Mr Ngakuru, who entered Thailand in 2020, is what is termed by international police agencies as a ‘super facilitator’ involved in negotiating huge shipments of illegal narcotics particularly methamphetamine for the crime syndicate led by Duax Hohepa Ngakuru who is known as the ‘international commander’ of the ruthless and violent drug syndicate and who is believed to have his headquarters in Turkey.

New Zealand does not have an extradition treaty with Thailand, seems unlikely they'll need to deport him as USA / FBI get him first, and a Thai news source claims he has already been handed over to the FBI:

"The FBI considers Shane Ngakuru a "fugitive". If arrested and convicted in the United States he faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment."

Probably do a long stretch in a Thai prison first?!

No.  He was arrested because he is wanted by the FBI.

Now wouldn't it be wonderful for the Thai Police if some overseas forces could help with the capture of a Police Killer on the run?

Which "on the run Police Killer [sic]" are you, perhaps, referring to?    The one who is only wanted in Thailand, nowhere else, to face charges relating to a traffic offence?  No overseas police forces have any jurisdiction here.

Where on Earth did you ever get that idea?  Thais are arrested all the time for drug trafficking.

Really. IIRC, there's a convicted drug felon who is a Thai government minister.

On that basis, there would be a fair few Thai men and women going into exile.

Comprehension problems?

He wasn't caught on overstay, the least of his problems.

Try following the links.

FBI.

the warrant is over a year old. i'm sure his overstay status had nothing to do with it.

Thai Police don't have access to other countries criminal record databases.

"Good guys in, bad guys out."

"Really bad guys in".

The sheer volume of international criminals in Thailand at any moment is staggering.

I'd mark it down to incompetence, but even Thais couldn't be that incompetent. It's corruption.

Do youhave the actual numbers or any other proof

The NZ news version - full item at link:

Comancheros member wanted in global drug sting arrested in Thailand
Oct 19 2022

The cousin of a Comancheros boss who has evaded police for a number of years has been arrested in Thailand on drugs charges.

Shane Elwood Ngakuru has been named as a co-defendant of a number of people facing charges in New Zealand.

Detective Inspector Paul Newman confirmed Ngakuru, who is also a Comancheros member, had been arrested in Thailand following a joint operation involving the FBI and Thai Police.

Thank goodness someone posts facts rather than the usual speculative drivel.

Unfortunately, this <deleted> will be out of prison in a relatively short time. I am speculating of course.  This far left Socialist Government in NZ is soft on crims, way too soft.

Correct. Heard on radio yesterday that the minister in charge of such doesn't want to put crims in jail anymore.

just being a bikie is sufficient grounds for immediate deportation.  send him back to NZ and let them seem with him. ABAB.

???? I’m not defending this guy but I can tell you now that I know 10x the amount of criminals that are not 1%, than those who are! So going by your rhetoric, shouldn’t you be kicking yourself of the country?

Pffft must be fake news. How could he be on a 2 year overstay?  I thought 90 day reports insured good guys in bad guys out.

Only good guys do the 90 day report... the bad guys don't bother hence they disappear from the radar... which proves how nonsensical it is.

His criminal record did not trigger any alarms as Thailand does not have the ability to check criminal records in New Zealand (or other countries) when someone enters Thailand. This is why there are so many foreigners with a questionable background in Thailand - there is no requirement to show a clean criminal record when entering the country or even when applying for a long-stay visa.
