The easiest proactive measure to curb road accidents would be to give the lazy RTP a swift kick in the butt and tell them to go and do their frigging job! Another easy one would be to have people take driving lessons and pass a driving test before they get a license. You know, like weaving in and out of traffic and driving on the shoulders at 150 kpm while taking selfies. Old hobbits die hard. It will take many years before the Thai's drive following the rules of the road. Don't forget who is teaching their kids how to drive. Plus with weed being so plentiful, new ways of driving my start. Piece-meal legislation on single issues and and intermittent dictums without any specific plan are just allowing the situation in Thailand to continue. It IS solvable - the longer they ignore this, the longer it will take to solve the situation. You have to install these measures - if you don't o them ALL then you won't make significant progress. Enforcement - Reform the police and courts Education - this goes much further than driving tests Engineering - the design and state of both roads and vehicles is a major factor in road safety Emergency Services - thousands of people die because despite surviving a crash they are let down by first responders and A&E in hospitals Evaluation - Thailand lags behind the rest of the world appallingly in the gathering and analysis of statistics and scene of accident calibration - this is vital to address why and how crashes occur. Note to the general. You want to make the roads safer? Get the highway patrol to actually patrol the highways, and start pulling people over for driving a truck at 40kph in the fast lane, excessive speeding (150kph, or higher), reckless driving, etc. They do that in most other nations. Why not here? Never seen it happen. Ever. As usual, you are spouting stuff you have no intent to honor, or back up.
