This is not the same as failing to train a cocker spaniel

I had a neighbor (34 old F) in the the US that babysat 2 preschool age children in their home, while their parents worked. She had worked 4 weeks, when the family pet a cocker spaniel attacked her. She was hospitalized for 5 days to treat bites to all  extremities, back, chest and face.

Well... We’ve had enough of these ‘aggressive dog threads’ to know the issues... but they are still being defended by some with comments such as ‘its not the dogs fault’ etc...

... I don’t care.. IF a dog needs to be well trained to have its natural aggression and instinct 'trained out of it’ then there is something very wrong already....

Any dog can be vicious and the most loving dog can go from Fido to Cerberus is a split second in the right circumstances. The owner should be competent to train and socialise their dog starting at a couple of months old. The American Pit Bull was known as the Nanny Dog because of its loving, loyal, caring and "Protective" nature. Any dog that bites and draws blood should be immediately put down and its that simple. Note I am a dog lover, I have owned trained and worked my dogs to a high standard yet my dogs were always on the lead except when working.

They are nice dogs if they have their balls removed if they're male, can't comment on the bitches. A major problem I witness on a daily basis (the farm family has one) is they don't know their own strength and heft and are highly excitable, often bumping heavily into whatever is in the way. Often injuring themselves during these storm trooping thuds inside and outside, oh yeah and this one stinks from the exercise... But hey, he's golden and looks like a pig, so he's lucky lucky and ain't going nowhere.

Indeed. Here's an example of a well trained, well socialized PitBull.

Like all dogs, great when raised correctly.

"Like all dogs, great when raised correctly."

And the key words are when raised correctly. Unfortunately, it seems a majority of them are not and that makes them dangerous and that's why the breed should be "discontinued".

Then how so you explain that in every single statistic Pit Bulls 'top the charts’ for both attacks on humans and deaths from dog attacks.

Pit Bulls,

Able to use lethal force, at whim, without warning.

When such dogs are allowed to roam free, it is tantamount to someone walking in a war zone, without any knowledge of being in such a danger zone.

Non-trainable dogs, even of no interest for police, totally useless to them, must be a reason for that...

The last tragedy I read about, is a family who lost their two children, in a sudden attack of their two beloved Pit Bulls, which had been part of the family for 8 years.

Thank you, thank you very much.

Nothing like someone who will volunteer to present the exception that confirms a rule.

So you are right, do not kill all Cocker Spaniel puppies, only all Pit Bulls.

Oh, another failure about following my advice regarding total eradication of these breeds.

But then, I give lots of advice to my GF, same failure level.

Oh well, I try to keep on smiling....

I can sympathize. It must be crushing to realize that the rest of the planet does not consider you the sole fount of all knowledge.

But just keep trying and smiling and one day you will be recognized as the omniscient authority you truly are.

Oh, having trouble with humor are we???  Hehe

But do not worry too much, might simply be your low IQ problem that is difficult for you to deal with.

Do you smile sometimes?

Dog was clearly startled and nipped the girl. Hardly national news (apart from the fact it's a PitBull so it gets clicks).

Happened to me a month ago when I was up on our farm, on our land, by a local unchained neighbour's dog. I wonder why that didn't make the news? I guess it wasn't a bull breed so it wouldn't have got all the pearl clutchers up in arms.

Did the owner of the dog which bit you have trouble restringing the dog to prevent a follow up attack ????

It wasn't the headline news, it was one article amongst many others and it is of interest to many.

A dog biting a woman getting out a lift is not interesting to many; if she had been killed another matter.

And if it was a pit-bull then she probably would have been killed. ????‍♂️

This kind of proves the point that those against the owning of pit-bulls are making.

Sounds like a lot of time, effort and cost involved in making a pit-bull a little safer but still a danger.  Something most owners are unlikely to do.

Better to not have them.

Homosexuality is also banned in many countries. Just because some countries ban something, doesn't make it evil. Sometimes it's just a case of educating people.

Homosexuality is banned in some countries.

Then Pit Bulls are not dangerous.

Well, something like that...????

Usual comment of a naive dog lover in denial.

No, a comment from a Pit Bull owner for the last 20 years ++, that's what my comment is based on. I don't comment on things i know nothing about, a rule of thumb perhaps others could follow.....maybe yourself included.

Normally when people meet normal well trained Pit Bulls their opinion of the breed is instantly changed due to their nature, maybe you'd like to come by and meet mine, doubt they'd like you tho...

Don't worry i've heard all the comments many times before from 'experts' that have zero experience with Pits.
