If you think Pattaya is expensive try Bangladesh. There seems to be a segment from the UK and Europe that must live in flophouse situations back home, though I don't know how cheap those run and normally people on that low end would not be able to fly to a foreign country and get situated. Maybe some of it is just people getting older and complaining just to complain or vent. When you get a bit older and start facing physical ailments I can see how it would be easy to just start complaining about anything, not necessarily what's specifically bothering you. There are far more 'Farang friendly' outlets and a big increase in local Farang distribution. That is some statement ????, for me, I am not sure anything can beat Tinnies. I like the deep filled Buriram pies over the usual 'Pattaya pies' but their highlight was their steak and kidney puddings....suet pastry is not easy to handle in Thailand but they somehow managed it better than others 1

You've no doubt heard the old saying that "you can take the Brit out of the council estate, but you can't take the council estate out of the Brit." 5 hours ago, JimTripper said: Maybe some of it is just people getting older and complaining just to complain or vent. A lot of it, but, with some notable exceptions, it seems to emanate from a particular nationality. An Australian joke you may not have heard: Q: How can you tell when a jet landing in Australia is from England? A: When the engines are turned off the whining continues. So you can safely ignore the vast majority of complaints. OK, maybe you won't like that haircut you got for B60, but there are plenty of other barbers. You're agile enough to dodge the occasional misplaced paving stone.????Think: local Third World charm. Personally, if I go to a foreign country, I like it to be foreign. The "show stoppers" our professional whingers always bring up mostly have nothing to do with themselves. Like, their critical plans to sun themselves on the beach in the rain during low season were intolerably disrupted by one of those occasional afternoon FLOODS! Their fave hangout, the Bali Hai pier, isn't sufficiently beautified for their delicate sensibilities. The distinctively dystopian modernist Waterfront sculpture is offending them all the way in New Zealand! The only one of any personal relevance might be the lack of seating on the newer Promenade. In the good ole days our mongers could drink Changs from a 7/11 and chat w/ a lot of ho's w/o buying them a drink and maybe arrange a short-time, no bar fine. That's what it all comes down to. So, the Authorities ended most of that, a scene disgusting to normal tourists and hostile for normal women; now more people enjoy the Promenade than ever before. True, the aesthetics were better before, but time moves on. Roll with it. 1

Agree ... nothing in Patts I need to buy or 'rent' that I can't find here. Never needed P4P, so the Patts economy will have to continue without me ... ???? Nothing there for me to see or do, that isn't better elsewhere at points south of us, or locally. Edited November 5, 2022 by KhunLA

Popular Post Onerak
I like Pattaya and live there for 6-month in a year. What I like about. 1. Walking distance to Jomtien beach for a evening stroll 2. Availability of good hospitals. 3. Availability of foods from different countries for home delivery 4. Sugar babies on demand for 2000/3000 baht a night 5. And now ganja 6. Access to Bangkok for 130 baht bus ride or 1500 baht taxi ride. 7. Cheap labor for cleaning, laundry, etc. 8. Modern malls, movie theatres, etc. 9. Cheap Bolt taxi to anywhere in Pattaya for less than 100 baht. 10. Cheap used motorbikes for running around in back alleys. Overall I like my 6-month stay in Pattay. The only problem is during the rain when roads are flooded and even grab orders are cancelled or delayed. I lived in Bangkok for two years near Thonglor BTS. Also lived in Benidorm(Spain) and Albufeira (Portugal) before. I have a house near Chicago and a condo in Las Vegas. Popular Post Golden Triangle
I've lived in Pattaya for over 12 years and was a regular visitor here for a few years before taking early retirement and moving here, I like it because I can get almost anything I want, I have a friend who lives the other side of Korat, we often send him stuff he can't buy locally, the last item was was Lime marmalade, we live well out of town, nice & quiet area near the lake, it has a walking/running/cycling track all the way round which is well used. Nothing wrong with Pattaya at all.
