Ice gel packs, where to find

Featured Replies

I want ice gel packs to transport some food stuff in the suitcase on a domestic trip.

Anyone has an idea where to look for in Pattaya?

Loads on Lazada of course.

Unfortunately too late and at hotel.

Thanks anyway.

Will have to improvise and hope the flight does not have x hours delay like seems to become the new normal.

Found some miniature cooling packs at Friendship.

Not worth the money.

I just use decent quality (so they're strong) screw-top plastic food containers (like jars, the sort of thing you would freeze some leftover soup in, say), fill them with water, freeze it and that works fine in a cool bag. I've always got one or two ready in the freezer. Be aware that they get a lot of condensation on them as they thaw, that may or may not matter to your food. Here's one so you can see what I mean:

Your only allowed 3.4 ounces or 100mL. Per container on a plane.

I think he needs gel so the baggage doesn't get wet during the flight.

I use your method though in my coolers transporting perishables in my car from Macro,  markets, etc.

I bought an Ice Gel Pack from a Critus Pharmacy in Chiang Mai.  It was 190 Baht.  Some hospital pharmacies might have them in stock but of course you pay much more.  Many years ago Chiang Mai Ram charged me 700 Baht for the same Ice Gel Pack.

Big pharmacies have gel packs which can be either heated up or frozen to treat sprains. Expensive, IIRC about 450 baht.

Perhaps he can get some for the trip back, if indeed that is where he is going!

Sure. The stuff will be in checked baggage which makes it important that it does not leak.

I will improvise with some cooler bags from friendship (69 and 100 Baht).
