So that poster campaign Leave put out depicting non white migrants, that was an irrelevance?

Everything Tory MPs say or do is either irrelevant or an outright lie.

Who pays for it ? Russia of course . Russia needs to be invaded and stripped of its assets . Especially the gas and oil which can be put back on line to serve the European countries . The possibility of any more hostilities from Russia needs to be quashed for once and for ever .

While it might be morally just to expect Russia to pay for the cost of rebuilding Ukraine, it won't happen.

Russia will pay something but it simply can't afford it to pay everything. The cost of rebuilding Ukraine is estimated at between $350 - $750billion. Russia's annual GDP is less than twice the higher figure. Any attempt to make Russia pay the full amount would cripple its' economy, lead to political instability and then who knows what would happen next.

Imo there will have to be some sort of latter-day Marshall plan with the US and EU picking up a large part of the tab.

What, you're not advocating a full invasion and stripping of all it's assets?

It seems that every Brexit fan on this thread was at some time working in the construction industry as this is the only industry that keeps on getting brought up and was seemingly adversely affected by these nationals. We've had hod carriers in Cricklwood, sparkies at the Olympic Stadium and bad managers for brickies in London.

This may surpise you but the UK is made up of more than just the construction industry and a LOT of industries benefited from EU workers who basically would do the jobs Brits turned their noses up at (hotels & hospitality, factories, NHS, fruit pickers, refuse collection etc)

I'm sorry that a Polish bricklayer could do as good (if not better) job than some of you for a lot less money but it's not indicative of all jobs and was used as an easy 'they're taking your jobs' when the opposite in fact was true  https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/20/reality-check-are-eu-migrants-really-taking-british-jobs'

The UK had record unemployment in the lead up to Brexit   https://www.statista.com/statistics/279898/unemployment-rate-in-the-united-kingdom-uk/ and these EU immigrants played a vital role in it's success, consistently adding more in the form of NI contributions and tax than they ever took out in benefits and now they are no longer around, the UK is REALLY struggling to fill these roles which in turn is having a huge affect on the economy.

These are the facts.

I think ‘building trade’ would be a bit more accurate description.

Just to point out the the construction industry is the largest industry in the U.K and employs some two million people , so its not surprising that a few construction industry workers post on these forums .

The annoyance was that they worked cheaper (whether they were better is debatable , cheaper is better for some people) , cut costs by five people living an a one bedroom flat , worked six days a week including holidays and had a fish and a loaf of bread for lunch and with that cheap lifestyle , they were able to undercut a British worker who had a mortgage , family etc .

Not denying any of this but to use the construction industry as a barometer for the whole of the UK is neither accurate nor helpful.

It's also not the largest industry either  https://www.ibisworld.com/united-kingdom/industry-trends/biggest-industries-by-employment/

That is just the building contractors , if you add everyone else involved in the building industry , the building industry comes out top

By the end of 2020, the construction industry employed approximately 2.08 million people, a decrease compared to the 2.43 million employees in the first quarter of 2019. A large share of employees in the U.K. construction industry are men, according to the same source.

According to many Brexiters, xenophobia played no part in the referendum. Hmmmm.

Most Brit people had no problem with Germans, Spanish, French or the other civilized Euro people entering and working. Just the cheap 3rd world East European labourers and criminals.

PS. I didn't want Brexit and am not a Brexiteer, I always intended to retire in France which Brexit prevented.

Would point out most posters in this forum don't live in the UK in their mom's house.

Back on ignore for you.

Well when you consider the NHS alone employs 1.2 million people (https://www.gov.uk/government/news/record-numbers-of-staff-working-in-the-nhs), and supermarkets employ about the same and then add hotels & hospitality, the services industries, charity work and all those others mentioned, it still doesn't represent the vast majority of UK workers.

But I get your point.

Mate, honestly , its not a point worth arguing about .

My point was that as the UK construction industry employs two million people , its not surprising that some UK construction workers post on these forums .

Whether the construction industry is the biggest employee in the UK or not is actually irrelevant to my point ????

Yes, but I didn't say that the majority of UK workers work in the construction industry , I did say that the construction industry is the biggest employee in the UK , compared to the various other industries

The Uk needs to attract foreign labour in the very near future , in order to promote the growth in the economy . However it needs to be carried out in a controlled way , unlike the crazy E.C. free movement of labour .

Let us not forget the UK government supported many workers financially during the lock down of the covid pandemic . It has also backed Ukraine ahead of all E.U. countries and is only headed by the U.S.A.  The U.K was well ahead of all E.U. countries in the procurement of the covid vaccine and also in the national vaccination programme . Do you recall when the E.C. stopped a covid consignment that was leaving Belgium and destined for the UK . The E.C. held on to it but did nothing with it , now if that was not sour grapes against the freed U.K. then nothing was .

As I have said before , the U.K. will be out of its recession within 2 years and the E.C. will be struggling as it too is on the slippery slope to a recession . Below is a clip from the OECD ( The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development is an intergovernmental organisation with 38 member countries, )

The EU economy is sliding into a recession. For this year's last quarter, some expect a 1.7% contraction, and the OECD's baseline scenario predicts a meagre 0.3% growth for the eurozone in 2023, lower than any other region of the world. Historical analogies to the current crisis are easy to find.Oct 3, 2565 BE

There could be worrying times ahead for the E.C. countries .

Lets just deal with your actuals rather than your 'prophecies'.

As has been pointed out to you before, the UK currently operates a points system for immigration that highlights 'essential workers' and higher end employees such as IT, engineers, doctors etc. How is this going to work for berry-pickers, factory workers, a janitor in the NHS and similar low level jobs that need nothing more than a physical body and the desire to do the job? A desire that many Brits do not have.

There are special working visas for people working in "berry picking" and other seasonal work .

Ok. Minus the berry-picking then.

All the rest still stand.

The U.K will have to train its workforce to do the jobs , can no longer just take Europe's workers anymore
