NIgerian Princess E-mail but with a twist

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

So as I was cleaning out my Spam folder for my e-mails, I came across this very amusing e-mail.  A definite twist on the old Nigerian Prince scam, but with a British twist.

Wondering how many have been suckered in or laughed as hard as I did when reading this before I deleted it.  Of course I had to post the basics for you to enjoy. Look for all of the errors and lets have a contest to see how many you can find.

Greetings,

Please forgive me for stressing you with my predicaments as I know that this letter may come to you as a big surprise. Actually, I came across your Email Address from my personal search afterward. I decided to email you directly after my prayers believing that you will be honest to fulfill my final wish before I die. I write this letter from a sad and emotional soul that requires compassion from a kind person. As long as your heart is pure and sincere, you will not regret this day.

My name is Ms. Catherine Woods. I have lived a life of affluence. I am suffering from a long-time cancer and from all indications my condition is really deteriorating as my doctors have confirmed and courageously advised me that I may not live beyond two months from now for the reason that my tumor has reached a critical stage which has defiled all forms of medical treatment. So I would like to take this opportunity to sacrifice my heritage to charity. This is because the stage of cancer has become very bad.

I'm married to Mr. Oliva Woods, a British citizen who was an international realtor and also a business investment analyst but he died in a fatal car accident in 2013. Since his death, I have decided not to remarry. We've been married for 28 years without a child and my parents died many years ago. I wish to fulfill my late Mom's dreams before I die because she always tells me how she wants to  set up a charity home to help the poor and less privileged children.

Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to a kind hearted person who will use this fund to set up a charity home to help the poor and widows, thus, less privileged children and give help to mankind. I sold all my private property and deposited a total of $8,300,000 in my non-resident account. The younger brother of my late husband robbed me of $ 2,800,000 and ran away. My husband's relatives are wicked people and none of them supported our Marriage from the onset. The total amount left in my name was $5,500,000 which was deposited in my non-residential account in Turkey.

The remittance paying bank is ready to release the funds to my approved person and the funds can be credited to any of your choosing bank accounts in the world. I want you to donate 60% of the fund to orphanage homes and charity organizations and 40% for yourself and family. If you will honor my last wish then my soul will be at peace when I finally depart from this world. Please let me know if you're willing to help me achieve this goal.

As soon as I receive your reply, I will give you more information on the next step to take. You are the first person I contacted on this matter. If your reply is delayed, I will have the opportunity to contact another individual for this same purpose. What I need from you most is guarantee that the funds you receive will be used for that purpose. Your urgent response will be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards
Ms. Catherine Woods

I want to contact her. Especially the "As long as your heart is pure and sincere, you will not regret this day." part convinced me.

Please send me her email address!

You have to love how intricate these scams have become, yet we all know that someone will fall for it and loose big time, which is very sad indeed. You have to admit this one sounds very intriguing....lol

They all have a common theme - written by utter idiots who make out outrageous and completely unbelievable rubbish...

Another example is a work scam..

Someone has clearly found my CV on LinkedIn or somewhere and contacted me offering a ‘contract too good to be true’.....

The then explained how I’d need to communicate with their British Embassy Liaison officer in London !!! (home nations don’t have Embassies !)...

These scammers are simpletons...   I really don’t understand how people can get caught.

Then all these scams would never ever work.

But it seems there are enough people who want to believe it.

Sort of like believing in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Thai Lottery will be won with your mystical numbers rubbed from a tree with baby powder....

Oh , how I miss my time in Nigeria. NOT.

And that special aroma, that only people that have truly been there  know what I'm talking about.

That special bouquet of BO and Turds.

And people win regularly in the Thai lottery - for whatever reasons.

I remember receiving letters from Nigeria decades ago with exotic postage containing offers of vast riches in exchange for simple tasks. My secretary always asked if she could keep the stamps and for a while I had a small collection of these intriguing missives.

Back then the princes had to exert a bit of effort and actually type up these letters on a typewriter and spend some money on paper and postage. They also had to find addresses somewhere in that pre-internet age. Now they have it much easier.

I don't receive such communications any longer. Perhaps the spam filters on my email provider's servers weed all of them out.

It was kind of fun getting those letters back in the day.

Half the people in the world are below average intelligence.
