Thx for the tip.

Did you already test how long the new battery holds it's charge?

I had my iPod battery changed (at NOT an official Apple Shop) and it only lasts for approx 3-4 hours on a full charge so NO good.

I couldn't tell you since I only had the new battery installed an hour ago.  A newly installed battery still has be be charged to become fully charged.

All I know is that battery health was 78% on the old battery (meaning that only 78% of the capacity was available).  That's what happens as a battery ages.  Anything below 80% means the processor will not work at peak efficiency, even if the battery charge indicator on the screen says 100%.

That seems to be the reason my screen was dimming for no apparent reason; the processor detected compromised battery efficiency and was intermittently dimming the screen to conserve energy.

With the new battery installed, the battery health indication is now at 100% and have seen no dimming.

Just to be clear "battery health" is not the same measurement as "battery charge".

Oke please report back then after you used it for a couple of days. I personally had bad luck replacing Batteries from iPhones / iPods. iPhone 6 battery change was even worse (different shops and both NOT authorized Apple repair places, but YMMV.)

Both had the issue that the batteries had swollen, the iPod one was so bad that the even the Touch pad came loose ????

As I said, this man is a hard-core professional and seems totally committed to customer satisfaction.  With hundreds of of positive reviews on Google Maps, and none of them below 5-stars, a lot of other people seems to feel the same way.  I'm confident that he uses only the best parts (no cheap knockoff batteries like some shops do).

Just because a shop is "authorized" by Apple doesn't guarantee good service, and just because a shop is not does not mean it is inferior.

Did you get an original Apple battery?

I have Samsung devices. I always go to Samsung in Pattaya to change the battery. For sure a little bit more expensive but I don't want to destroy my devices or burn down my condo because of a cheap battery. I never charge anything when I am not at home or while sleeping.

AFAIK Samsung is a bit easier to change the Battery. Apple has made it not as easy as  a samsung and someone with tools has to open the phone to exchange the battery on a iPhone

Of course.  As I said before, he is a professional and takes customer satisfaction seriously. No cheap knockoff batteries like some shops do.  Apple tries to scare people into believing that only Apple authorized repair centers are to be trusted just so they can command ultra-expensive repair prices.  For peace of mind, I suppose that's a good policy to follow, but I had a repair done by an "authorized" repair shop once in the States and they did a horrible job and then tried to charge me extra to correct what they had done.

LOL, I made the mistake of trying to replace the battery once on my old iPhone5s.  Never again!  One of the connecting cables would not snap back in place and ended up breaking the plug on the motherboard when I pressed too hard ????

No need to leave the thread in a huff ????   Sorry if you took my reply as being mean-spirited.  However, you certainly did insinuate that replacing a battery at a "Non-Apple" shop would result in getting a bad battery, when you said "I had my iPod battery changed (at NOT an official Apple Shop) and it only lasts for approx 3-4 hours on a full charge so NO good."

I patiently explained in my reply to you what the shop owner explained to me about battery health percentage vs charge percentage, and that he only uses top quality parts so I think you should have understood that his repair work is to be trusted.  I stood at his side at his work bench as he troubleshot my iPhone, and then replaced the battery.  It was a real learning experience, and yes, I saw that it was a genuine Apple battery he installed.

If a repair shop buys cheap Chinese knockoff batteries instead of genuine Apple batteries like many other repair shops in Thailand do, you would indeed run the risk of not only poor performance but even having the battery catch fire or explode.

No repair shop that values customer satisfaction would be foolish enough to do that.  Since iOS Restore Pattaya has hundreds of positive reviews on Google Maps with not a single one below 5 stars, that should be all the proof you need that he can be trusted.
