webfact Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 File photo By Online Reporter Car drivers in Thailand are being urged to check the airbags in their vehicles after three people were killed and another seriously injured due to faulty airbags from the Takata Corporation. The issue with the airbags from the now-defunct Japanese automotive parts company Takata dates back to 2008 and has resulted in the recall of more than 100 million vehicles globally. To date there have been at least 27 known fatalities linked to the faulty airbags. Initially, Takata denied there was a problem with its airbags before later admitting that the ammonium nitrate used during manufacturing caused too much pressure and made the bags explode. KhunLA Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Daughter got a recall notice for her 2012 Mazda 2.
Purdey Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 I would have hoped all the airbags would have been replaced over the past decade. Obviously, many people don't get their cars serviced at the brand service center. Still, brand should have found a way to contact owners. Takata should be held responsible for all these deaths.

Vios is called Varis (on the list) in many markets, so it would be a good idea to check the VIN number, against Toyota's recall list. https://www.toyota.com/recall/takata https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recalls/compulsory-takata-airbag-recall/takata-airbag-recalls-list 1
