Popular Post webfact Posted December 14, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2022 Picture: Thai Rath Yesterday firebrand former MP, TV presenter and politician Chuwit Kamolwisit went to give evidence at the committee investigating the Immigration Bureau of the Thai police. This is over backhanders and bribes paid to bent officials for the issuing of visas, especially student visas, to Chinese nationals. Chuwit met with committee chair Pol Lt-Gen Wira Jirawira and gave the commitee information related to 2020-21, reported Thai Rath. It referred to officers working in Regions 3 and 4. Seven thousand student visas were issued. In Khon Kaen alone the number was 3,000 indicating that mischief was afoot there. Then came the dagger in a typical Chuwit anecdote that spoke of evidence about one officer who was at the IB a matter of a few years. Picture: Thai Rath Yet he had amassed enough money for a Porsche and a condo in Lang Suan, one of Bangkok's most sought after locations. Such purchases would likely costs many tens of millions of baht. On a lowly officer's salary? Chuwit is taking some flak himself over his ever increasing role of Thailand's #1 whistleblower, notes ASEAN NOW. But he is clearly enjoying himself and, with apparent public backing, is putting the wind up the RTP. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-12-14 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. He has being a target since 2004 whe he exposed police corruption which forced the police commissioner to act and he has not relent on his crusade. Even Thaksin had to bowed to his allegations and investigations were done resulting in 4 police major generals, 9 lieutenant colonels and many top police officers suspended. He was kidnapped gone missing for days and emerged dazed and found by a tax driver. He alleged that he was drugged and beatened. As a political candidate, he escaped an assassination attempt. Why he is doing this, I have no clue but I am sure glad he is exposing police corruption and he is a very brave man. 20 2 8 2

Popular Post jvs Posted December 14, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2022 You all seem to forget who is was before the things mentioned? He has a little black book(maybe not so little) about the customers his massage parlors before and many people are scared of that. He said once' If i open my mouth half of Bangkok will be in divorve court. Target maybe, but who is going to pull the trigger? Most guys are more scared of their wives than any one else. Divorce hurts almost as much as loss of face. 6 3 2

I hope he's got good and very alert body guards. 5 5

Corruption nowadays permeates everything (actually like this for a very long time already), and nothing of any real impact is being done to reduce and to stop coruption. Part of the problem is that so many cops and gov't officers are involved they don't speak up because they reveal their own corruption activities. In other words the problem just multiplies. The useless PM promised he would stop corruption. He's done nothing. And it's been revealed several times his own close family deeply involved. 7 4 5
Popular Post Classic Ray Posted December 14, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2022 Part of the problem is the encouragement of self-funding for agencies such as Customs, RTP, Education, etc. Staff are paid very low salaries (but good pensions and medical benefits) and are expected to supplement their salaries from their activities. This invites corruption. Far better to increase salaries, use an ICAC (Hong Kong) body to investigate and root out corruption, and support legal processes. The money in the system can then benefit the whole population rather than only senior officials’ Mia nois. The problem is there is little will or effort made to deal with the problem, unlike Singapore or Hong Kong. 4

Chuwit park saga started when he arrived with army and cleared all the merchants and police could not do a thing. Safe to assume he still has some backing of the army and this is why police do not dare to touch him 1 1 2
BestB Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 Corruption in Immigration has been going on for decades and hardly a surprised shock or news for anyone. Since Chinese Triads started to come over is when it all became a problem, what they failing to understand is that so far triads have been playing nice, it does not mean it will stay this way if things become hard for them. 2

Sure, they will never use an outside agency because it would quickly reveal that many of the senior and junior staff are corrupt/very corrupt 4

As I suggested in an earlier thread, they aren't in the least bit interested in broke old men squatting on the in-laws land in Isaan no matter how much you wish they were. 2 2 1 5

Yes indeed, its like a broken record? Over the past few weeks there have been multiple articles published on AN about Chinese gangsters, businessmen etc operating illegal casinos, clubs etc. Just yesterday an article was published on the "'Super Rich' Chinese gangsters who call Thailand home." The agents/IO's facilitating retirement extensions pales into insignificance compared to what the corrupt Chinese gangsters are getting up to? We are not talking a few hundred million baht, but possibly a few hundred billion baht all told? 2
Andycoops Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 More power to his elbow. It's about time some of these people were put down several pegs for their failure of duty to the nation. 1

As I suggested in an earlier thread, they aren't in the least bit interested in broke old men squatting on the in-laws land in Isaan no matter how much you wish they were. Well said. Here's an extreme example of a farang overthinking his importance / entitlement in the LOS. Very wealthy older farang (gay but that's a side point) been retired in LOS with retirement visa for about 20 years. This year didn't renew his retirement visa and got tip off immigration looking for him, friends bundled him to the airport and pushed him to pay the fine and leave. His resaon for not renewing his retirement visa: - 'But everybody knows how much money I give to Thai boys (meaning over 18), so surely I qualify for not necessary to have any visa'. And he is generous to Thai boys (as said above this is NOT meaning under age), And he 'entertains' many young men in his very large expensive home. His comment is not surprising, that's how he sees life. He's almost never been outside of Pattaya and has no real vision/understanding of what real Thailand looks like, city or country, how society works, survives, how families exist and survive in the rest of Thailand. He sees Thailand in his own gay picture of his ever present image and thoughts of gay life and his belief that every thai boy is desperate for his idea of entertainment. He seriously believes: 'But everybody knows how much money I give to Thai boys (meaning over 18), so surely I qualify for not necessary to have any visa'.

thailand49 Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 The man knows his stuff, his rise comes from the same corruption he now whistle-blows about. What is missed in the story is the one cop he speaks of didn't mass that amount from only the Chinese but only Chinese is important now that they near own their country the lost of the control is what bothers Chuwit Patriotism. Doesn't want to kiss the feet of the Chinese Master which is what XI expected not a handshake! ???? Maybe Big Joke can clear this whole thing up? ????

LALes Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 Look, I'm no expert but it doesn't take an expert to realize that all our falang problems don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy mixed up country. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow but soon, and for the rest of your lives you'll have to deal with this Chinese triad problem. Will we always have Bangkok? Only if brave men like Chuvit stand up and be counted.
Srikcir Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 Anecdotes are not evidence anymore than "he said, she said," But this is Thailand where a word from the right person (Elite, Hi-So, Good Person) is judicial evidence. 1
