Thai man dead, had "genitals ripped apart" in Pit Bull attack - owner says he's had enough of his pets

A street attack by three Pit Bull terriers on a 47 year old Thai man in the north east of Thailand was top of the news in Thailand yesterday.

 

Sanook reported on the aftermath yesterday after the attack on Wednesday night in the village of Ban Jampa in Khor Yai sub-district of Ku Kaeo district in Udon Thani. 

 

They found dried blood stains on a concrete road outside a house in Moo 2 and a trail of blood leading to the house of the victim, Pornchai, 47.

 

They found his torn jeans that were ripped apart and in tatters and covered in blood.

 

Noophian, 59, the victim's sister in law said that Pornchai lived alone and was on his way back home at 8pm after getting some candles from the local shop to light up his house for his evening meal.

 

Saksri's dogs were to blame. This is a neighbor.

 

She said that her brother in law had had his genitals ripped apart in the vicious attack.

 

He had been rushed to Udon Thani hospital but died there.

 

She said she had heard Pornchai scream but that was not out of the ordinary as he has some minor mental health issues. She didn't dare go out.

Another neighbor Bunsang, 60, said that no one dared help for fear that the dogs would turn on them.

Maetim, another neighbor, said that everyone loved Pornchai in the village and would see him outside the shop and give him food.

 

She said that such a breed of dog should not be kept there and if they were they should be securely locked up.

 

"No one is daring to go out now," she said. 

 

Kusol, 67, recounted how the dogs had viciously attacked Pornchai rupturing arteries in his arms and legs. He was angry but their neighbor, the owner, was a good man who would take care of the funeral cost.

 

Owner Saksri, 56, said he had been alerted to the attack in a call from his son and had pulled the dogs off.

 

He had looked after the three male Pit Bulls for two years and they were usually mild mannered. 

 

This was the first time they had killed anyone.

Someone had left a door ajar and the dogs had used their noses to get out into the street and head for some fields. Other dogs had bitten them, he claimed.

 

He said that he has had enough of looking after the dogs and would get them another home.

 

He promised to take care of all the funeral expenses and take full responsibility. 

ASEAN NOW has carried many stories about this breed in recent weeks and months. 

 

There have been many attacks prompting calls for the breed - and other aggressive dogs - to be banned in Thailand. 

 

Many critics point to laws that favor dogs over humans. Having dogs put down is problematical.

Dog lovers say that irresponsible or clueless owners are to blame and that Pit Bulls can make loving family pets if trained correctly.

Yes, what the heck is thar statement even mean for....like would it have been better if it had killed one or two people before... Jeeze. 

 

I can't undersrand people's attitudes here.  How can the guys family say the owner is a good man?  How can people in the village not be angry and want justice?  They are Co tent to just live in fear! 

 

How can the guy get away with no consequences... Only paying for the funeral? 

 

And even above all this, he can the dogs not be put to sleep... They are giving them a new home!  Who in their right mind would want to keep them now?

All Pit Bulls should be eliminated from the face of the earth. They serve no good but way too often attack innocent people for no reason and without warning.

Two year old pitbulls,3 of them like a loaded gun waiting to be used.

Terrible but there will be more stories like this every week or so.

Also a story about an 8 week old puppy that "attacked' some one.

Always the same, one side talking common sense about these beasts and wanting them banned and the attackers put down. The 'Pittie' lovers side claiming they only attack due to bad training and being provoked, and that they are happy to let babies be alone with these killer dogs. I know which side i'm on. All Pitbulls are a volcano of violence just waiting to go off at random.

There is one of these at a house on our soi . It`s huge and I wouldn`t want to be anywhere in the vacinity if it ever got out . The main reason people keep these things is to intimidate the neighbours . The Thai media has christened them " kartagorn see kah " , or 4 legged killers - that`s just about right. The owners of these dogs that savage people should be charged with manslaughter and put behind bars .

I have yet to see any Thais look after their dogs (in a rural setting). 

 

They are just 'there'.........totally uncared for..........covered in fleas and ticks, suffering from worms, unwashed, no collars roaming free or worse caged 23/7, chasing cars and motorcyclists or dragging two legs behind them or walking on three legs as they struggle to survive........absolutely disgusting.....and the worst of it is no one gives a damn.

Pitbulls or any other dog are what the owner wants them to be. No dog is vicious by nature. When dogs get taunted by ppl/kids they turn vicious.

There is no such thing as a Pit Bull.

Doesn't look like a PitBull to me. Looks like some kind of bulldog mastiff cross. 

 

Still, PitBull gets the clicks, so PitBull it is.

 

Proceed with calls for breed specific bans, culling of all PitBulls, painful deaths for PitBull owners etc. ????

And that dog doesn't look like any of those 3 breeds (to an educated eye).

The past studies and research shows pit bulls are among the most aggressive dogs.

I believe you are wrong,breeding has a lot to do with it.

If it's huge then it's probably not a "PitBull".

 

Probably a mixture of bulldog, mastiff, maybe some other bull breeds in there as well. 

 

Real "Pitbulls" (American Pitbull Terrier) tend to be around 25 kilos which is by no means a huge dog. Also, they were bred to fight dogs, not humans and tend to be very friendly towards people.

Nonsense, Pitbulls are genetically imprinted for aggression and violence, they do not need provoking and rarely are before they attack and kill. If they are not vicious by nature why do they need to be trained not to be? Even with the best training they are still highly unpredictable and dangerous, the stats on dog attacks prove it. Stop making excuses for these killing machines.

Facts carry more weight than opinion......

 

Pit bulls are regularly cited as one of the most dangerous dogs. In the 16-year period from 2005 through 2020, pit bulls contributed to 67% (380) of dog bite deaths. Throughout history, pit bulls have been bred to fight.

A true Staffordshire Bull terrier will not attack a person, although many are not good with other dogs.

A Pitbull or Amstaff type dog is completely different. These dogs are unpredictable, and a previously docile dog can 'turn' and exhibit excessive aggression - as in this case.

Over 35 years working as a veterinarian I have seen or heard of countless acts of (generally) unprovoked aggression by 'Pitties' , or Pitbull Crosses. They do not have to be purebred to be bad. It only seems to take a touch of their genetics to create the time bomb that these dogs are.

They are restricted or banned in many countries for very good reason.

I would argue it is the cross breeding that creates issues.

 

Purebred "dog fighting" dogs are very human friendly, they were bred to fight other dogs and human aggression was an undesirable trait. It's when you cross breed them with breeds such as Mastiffs (which have been used as war dogs to fight humans, or to protect property from humans) that you end up with the strength and tenacity of the "PitBull" and the human aggression/size of the Mastiff (not picking on Mastiffs here, could be other breeds as well). This is why you end up with "huge Pitbulls" which aren't actually "Pitbulls" at all.

 

When such a dog attacks, it is labelled a "PitBull" attack, when in fact it is essentially a mongrel or a cross breed. If you broke down the figures, I'd bet a huge proportion of these "PitBull" attacks are not a specific breed such as the American PitBull Terrier or the Staffordshire Bull Terrier but a mix of various breeds, some of which may have been bred for human aggression.

 

This is why breed specific legislation is such a nonsense. The label "PitBull" is vastly misused. The dog in the OP is a good example. Clearly a mix (I'd guess a Mastiff/American Bulldog mix) but labelled a PitBull.

 

Hence all the uneducated posts on this thread screaming for a ban on PitBulls.
