The US has the ability to kidnap him and transport him to the US for prosecution for the murder of a US citizen. They recently did the same in Libya for the Pan Am bombing.

Get cracking, America!

he must have paid beaucoup bucks to get out of prison in Nepal. He married a Nepali princess in an effort to get out but the maoist government didn't fall for it no matter how much he paid/which some officials accepted happily. He lived well while in the prison and his heart condition is more than likely paid for too, A Nepali friend found the bloodied clothes of one of his victims in the trunk of a rental car when it was returned in Kathmandu. It was key evidence when he was convicted years later.

Extradition? 100%

Meanwhile, Nepal will take Sobhraj out of the prison and keep him in isolation for 10 days to prepare his immigration papers to whichever country Sobhraj ends up being sent to.

Does hell have a long stay option... best place for him.

Don't you think the statute of limitations applies here?

From what I remember he was imprisoned here but managed to walk out. Question though, why is this guy being put in jails? He should be executed.

Charles Sobhraj has already befitted once from his crimes with a book published in 1979. It seems another publication of the years in incarceration should finance him through to his eventual death.

I thought that people convicted of murder could not profit off their stories. Maybe that’s only in some parts of the world, but should be everywhere. He doesn’t deserve to make money off his murders. If he wants to tell his story then let the victims families get the profits. I’d just hope there is an unfortunate mishap during his heart surgery. One can only wish. Scum wasting more of the taxpayers money.

Pure insanity. He killed 20 people and he's being let out because he's old. In-freakin-credible. Why is he even still alive? His crimes justify him being taken out of this world forever.

As soon as they let him out maybe his number will come up!  ????

He doesn't appear to have paid anything. He served 19 years of a 20-year sentence in Kathmandu. The majority of prisoners sentenced to life in prison in Nepal - which in Nepal's justice system is a sentence of 20 years - are released after 14 years.

Authorities released him a year early due to age and illness.

Well, he is not in a hold for 10 days, he is landing shortly at Charles de Gaulle airport of Paris on board of a Qatar airways plane; he travelled from Kathmandu via Doha to the French capital.

Hardly anybody, if at all, had a clue, who this passenger is while the lady in the last part of the clip -  © AFP - seems to be quite scared over Sobhraj's attention by everybody.

May he rot in hell; he spent 39 years - or half of his entire life - in jails in India and Nepal yet no punishment will ever bring all those backpackers back to life ????

Great TV Series ...Wonder does he get anything from that ?

Not one cent,  he was asking for thousands of dollars for interviews, the production company could not bear to give the guy any money, good for them. Plus, seeing how he invents every story that comes out of his mouth, it'd be worthless.

There's an excellent documentary made a few years ago, shows quite well what a slimy <deleted> he is...

Now the Supreme Court in Kathmandu, Nepal, has decided to release the convicted serial killer due to his old age.

Should have left him to rot.

He is unrepentant scum. looking to secure a book deal to cash in on his crimes.

Pure filth.

I think if the crimes were reinvestigated it’s likely a couple of young Burmese men would be convicted.
Best let it alone just in case.

The Burmese scapegoats come in handy when the real culprit is a local of means and influence, a Hi-so Thai. Doesn't apply here. The serpent is Indian /Vietnamese. Not even a real Farang. Even Farangs are not provided with Burmese scapegoats unless they are of the Elon /Jeff /Bill kind with vast amounts of money to grease palms.

While having no sympathy for his crimes ,he’s officially now served his sentence and likely has no funds or other means to support himself so is taking the only realistic alternative.

But no matter how much you rant and rave that’s not what’s happening is it? He’s a free man, deemed to have served his time ,legally beyond Thai extradition (statute of limitations) and thus also free to earn a living even if that is selling his story. His rights won’t be much different from any other released long term offender. But cheer up,he’ll also be entitled to heart surgery as a French citizen! ????
