Thai Postal service

Featured Replies

A General question, has anybody found that it takes longer to receive a letter from Europe than usual? I know the post here is slow but my German bank sent me a new Maestro bank card on the 5th December and it hasn't yet arrived, my old one has been invalid since the end of December. The letter was sent as 'normal' post. I have spoken with my postman who assures me he isn't hoarding.

That seems way too long, and Thai Post only handling the last legs of that.

Rare anything takes longer than 2 weeks, from USA or CH to me.  And I'm a stop or 2 outside of Bangkok.

In country, just a couple days.

Don't know if letter post is the same as small parcels.

My son sent me a small box mid August from Canada. The size of 2 Pepsi cans.

Arrived Thailand mid December

From experience I can contribute about Thailand to Germany with registered mail.

And there it is very clear that the bottleneck is German customs/mail check in Frankfurt.
You might be unlucky with getting into the Christmas pileup.

One registered letter once took 6 weeks or so and obviously stuck in Germany (status unchanged for long).

(it was probably caused by Covid measures/bottlenecks at the time)

On the other hand: I repeatedly received parcels from a company in the US.

They go with DHL to Frankfurt and from there with Deutsche Post to here.

10 days to two weeks. Not too bad and no hassle with Thai customs although supplements would go under taxable/prohibited.
