Daily News reported that around 50,000 people turned up at the first day of funeral rites for a revered northen Thai monk.

Since he died the abbot known as Khru Ba Jao Phan had been stored in a glass case.

He showed little sign of decomposition with the media saying he "looked like someone sleeping".

He had his saffron robes changed and was put in a coffin for the cremation that will take place on 19th January.

300 novice monks led the traditional thrice perambulation of the chapel.

Who on earth writes this purple bilge? AI or the Thai poet laureate?

"He showed little sign of decomposition with the media saying he "looked like someone sleeping".
