You're so American!

This list is funny.

Non-Americans Sharing Signs Someone Is From The US (buzzfeed.com)

I'm definitely less American than when I moved to Thailand but I think it's true, almost all Americans are doing some things that are obvious tells.

I hear this all the time. Non-Americans asking Americans abroad where they are from and they answer with the state. It's so cringe.

Like if someone says California (I used to do that!) it's usually them trying to communicate that they're blue not red as if the foreigner cares about that code.

What would you add to the list?

Being fat obviously but that isn't specific to Americans.

I do have a memory of my first trip abroad in Austria with two friends (as teens). We were on this tour of some kind of cave ride and the guy helping us looked at us and said he would have never guessed we were Americans. What a compliment!

Saying London, England or Paris, France as opposed to just London and Paris.

Being unable to differentiate between the words then and than.

Speaking Spanish as most Americans can.

Saying you're American, is as ignorant as stating you are European.  If asked, I say Prachuap.

Addressing me as 'sir' ????

That has to be the Europeans wearing socks with sandals. There is no shortage of trashy Americans too though.

It's kind of hard to admit your American with Biden as President. I was at Central BKK and a German ask me where I was from, told him America, he told me Biden is an "EMBARRASSMENT!" Says it all.

Among intelligent Americans, a kind of sheepish, apologetic air.

Among 'most all Americans

Then there's the Brexit thing. They'd love that to fail...

Anglophilia is definitely a thing.

One of my first jobs was under a British expat in San Francisco. He said he hired me because I said my favorite author was Evelyn Waugh.

Saying "could care less" instead of "couldn't care less" - this one just makes me laugh as it means the speak doesn't understand their own language.

Saying "anyways" instead of "anyway". Just sounds... wrong, to me at least.

What does it matter where you are from when you really cannot remember it anymore?

Wherever you once were, and wherever you might happen to be now....

Anyways is atrocious but I defend could care less. It's not about logic. It just flows better. Being terminally literal is unhealthy.

Not quite sure I understand this rant.

But, but who doesn't care about their home country first?

I have lived as a guest in several countries throughout my life, but the US was and is always my home, and I'd kick all of those guest countries to the curb if it came to it.

I think most folks would have the same feeling for their home country, well maybe not North Koreans!

Not me.

I do not care about my home country, first.

Nationalism is not first on my list.

I would rather care about cowgirls...in the sand....than nationalism...

Hey, it's not only the Yanks who do this one. So many posters on here do it. And as for using 'of' instead of 'have'....don't get me going.

I have to agree with the last sentence. Reading back my own post I wrote "speak" which wasn't right either.
