I think you might be right, pretty sure the December figure will be confirmed at over 2 million so January might be the first month that will experience a decline since international arrivals restarted. Definately part of the reason they were so eager to start getting the Chinese back in just as the Western segment drops off after the xmas/high season rush.

Danderman123
Huge numbers of day shoppers from Malaysia in those numbers. But there really are big numbers of South Asians arriving every day, per my experience at Suvarnaphumi. And Russians, they are in Jomtien in big numbers. The big question is how they are able to receive funds for any possible long stay what with all the sanctions on their Banks etc Maybe Thailand has " facilitators " Most likely over 27 to avoid the draft. Thailand takes Chinese UnionPay and other cards no doubt. I would think Russians will have few obstacles to spending money in Thailand. Seems like flight prices are increasing again and oil is nudging up in price. China opening up demand may increase resource prices. For example, UK inflation is still high and the housing market is beginning to soften. Jolly jaunts to Thailand may not be a top priority for many Europeans. 3

I remember a senior TAT figure lying through his teeth on Sky last year that Thailand had fully opened up. When the interviewer pointed out all the hospitality restrictions, the TAT guy just smiled and said Thailand fully opened. The dogs on the street new he was talking BS. I am not an expat. Keep my assets in the UK and split my time between the UK and Thailand. I am astounded at the number of expats i have meet who wished they had never sold up and would love to split their time also. 2

Popular Post Drop the dead donkey
Remember. For people transiting and getting other flights where they need to check in again get counted as a tourist. Because they get stamped in their passport. Even though they go into the main concourse and check into another flight. These are the farsical figures that TAT use as well.

Sydebolle
Phiphat and his boys at the Tourism Authority Club are having yet another light moment at the crystal ball. Border passers (Lao, Cambodian and Burmese) as well as Thai citizen do NOT complete a TM6 arrival/departure card anymore. All arrival by air, irrespective of nationality = ditto. Any idea, where these figures come from - neither airline nor immigration can have these figures? 1

He said he still had a mortgage to paid and a family to take care of and hasn't bought new clothes for himself in 3 years so he will once again be wearing the same clothes for the Lunar New Year. In fact Putin should prevent them coming here if he needs more war money.
BarraMarra
Where does the money go to when the Russians have bought their airfares to Thailand? If Thailand refused entry to Russian aircraft like Aeroflot who have begun direct flights to Phuket, or Siberian airways Putin would have less to spend on killing kids and civilians in Ukraine.
