Big winter clothes

Featured Replies

Can one purchase farng size winter clothes in BKK?

I may be flying to a cold country, and don't want to bring my winter wardrobe with me.

Do they sell big sizes of winter sweaters, trousers, coats etc?

I'm quite big., XXL in England, XL in America.

Thanks

Some shops will sell fairly warm and new clothes. However, it can be a problem with your size. In that case you have the option to accept second hand markets who sell imported winter clothes or buy online and import yourself.

Which markets?

What's the best company to import with, how long does it take?

thanks

The heaviest winter coats I've bought in Thailand would be equivalent to a fall/spring bomber type jacket.

I've bought them to get ex wife and son to a store to buy proper Canadian winter gear.

Nothing in Thailand's winter clothes is fit for an Albertan winter

trust me, there are possibilities.   You can buy it here and wear it in Canada!!!!!

If you will consider used, absolutely possible.

Sure, might cost money.....................no worry.

shoppee a little harder to tell if legit, but you gotta research things.

It's all about layering, but that's for another thread.

There are outdoors shops such as Columbia, North Face and Montbell in both CentralWorld and Siam Paragon.

They sell winter clothes such as quilted puffy jackets, fleeces, beanie hats and gloves etc. But not cheap.

You can also find winter clothing on Aliexpress and Lazada. Cannot guarantee quality of Chinese stuff, but Naturehike is not too bad.

All those brands is expensive brands, and alot more expensive here than back in Europe. Never seen my sizes her In Thailand.

Some outlets and markeds sells only bad copies, so watch out. Cheap copies could be ok, but copies is non functional for cold weather, just look warm.

I did state, "But not cheap."

Naturehike is a Chinese brand that makes outdoor clothing and equipment, including tents. They are probably one of the better ones.

Obviously, as you stated in your OP, you will have to bear in mind that Asian XXL might not be the same as European XXL.

If you click on the link below for a quilted jacket, and scroll down, there is a size chart showing dimensions for XXL.

HTH

Another option is heading up to MBK and taking a look at what they have there.

Its all fake stuff and I wouldn’t use any of it when going up a mountain etc...

But... If all you are looking for is a warm jacket when out and about, nature walks, the town etc... then what they have on offer should be fine.

have you looked at decathlon ?

Size is always going to be an issue though...

At least reasonably priced, but never tried it. Cheaper quality often heavy and not especially user friendly for activities as you stated. Quality cost money, and I would rather buy it abroad than here.

We went on an ‘unplanned ski-trip’...   I was fortunate enough to have my kit with me, but Wife and Son’s was back in the UK...   Kit for both of them was purchased from Decathlon, no issues whatsoever.

As you mention, its not the best quality compared to Columbia, The North Face kit etc, but its certainly passable and yes.. in this instance, fine for being on the side of a mountain in a whiteout.... I trust the Decathlon kit more than I’d trust a knockoff from MBK....

It all depends what the Op is using the kit for.
