Popular Post webfact Posted February 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 1, 2023 Picture: Sanook A stony faced chief of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat faced the massed ranks of the Thai media yesterday. He apologised to the Taiwanese actress, said Sanook in their headline, and the public who had faced financial losses at the hands of some of his men. Damrongsak only took over at the helm of the RTP late last year. He admitted that since then there had been many incidents both good and bad that he had to deal with. He used the term "yer maak" - loads. "We have a great many good officers that are ready to do their duty and serve the public," he intoned. "Rest assured the good ones will be rewarded and the bad ones will be punished". He assured the public and tourists that they would be treated properly and in particular he is demanding that both immigration and the tourist police perform their duties with transparency. Regarding the extortion case of Charlene An he promised a full and transparent investigation. Trips may be made to both Taiwan and Singapore. But if witnesses are scared of dealing with the Thai police then he said that Interpol would play a role. He said that the Huay Kwang police chief had been transferred and if he or his deputy were involved they would face the music. He dismissed suggestions that the commander of the metropolitan police was also culpable. He also promised upgrades to body cams for police. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-02-01 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post wwest5829 Posted February 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 1, 2023 Seems to me that there should be a threat of charging official wrongdoing with, "lese majeste" charges as the wrongdoing caused embarrassment to the Kingdom of Thailand and so the King. If not used currently, OK but let the word go out that, in the future this is a probable charge for wrongdoing while serving in an official capacity. 1 2

internationalism Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 there were not any good cops amoung those 7. Their superior also bad apple, transfered. Probably all cops at that police station should be investigated. Check their land titles. "good cop is a d...d cop" sounds correct in thailand

Regretfully you are absolutely right yet an unknown number of RTPs might have had second thoughts since. The more comes to light, the more might have second thoughts. You will always have those risking everything; see the stringent laws on illegal drugs in Singapore with the mandatory death sentence. They hang yearly some the catch; how many try it nevertheless and sneak through. The grey dark figures are one thing, carrying on exposing those you catch is another and certainly a necessary element in getting this endless corruption highlighted. Look at Indonesia and their top corrupt customs system. They all got booted out and SGS took over a paid mandate to set-up a (fairly) clean customs system. The government made much more in official import duties and in Thailand the government would earn officially much more in fines while some of those law-benders and cheaters would get to reason ...... 2
