What do you think about wearing Ukrainian colors around Russians in Thailand?

Plainly the thinking was that we would cripple Russia's economy.  We've only made it stronger, as is plain to anyone here in Pattaya at the moment.

You believe this is a sign of the strength of the Russian economy?

I think it’s immature & antagonistic..     Contrary to what sone halfwitted  posters here think I doubt many Russians here feel any degree of support for the actions of their government

  • I didn't wear an Iraqi t-shirt when the USA and its lapdogs decide to bomb the place back into the Stone Age all those year ago so I shan't be wearing a Ukraine t-shirt now.

The topic/thread is totally ridiculous, unless you enjoy antagonizing, bullying nice people on holiday.

I wouldn't wear this symbol to a gay bar ...  why crash a Russian gathering on holiday with being offensive & stupid.

When the invasion first started there were only a few Russians left here in Phuket along with some Ukrainians. Both groups seem to unite in the outrage. I saw a couple of cars with Ukrainian flags on them and there were a few hotels offering free accommodation to both nationalities.

However now Phuket is heaving with Russians and we know they have a highly restricted state TV with the majority believing in Putin's war of choice. Go anywhere where there are tourists and you'll be among large numbers of Russians, head to Central or villa mart, packed with them.

Wear a Ukrainian t shirt..................no way. No need to poke the bear.

As a side note, had a Russian 15 year old stay at my house last night, sleepover with my daughter. Yes the International schools are full of them also.

Maybe ask the Jewish leadership of Ukraine.

The far right got very little support in their last election.

The Russians are the fascist side in this war.

He may be Jewish by birth. But it ends there. His Children were baptised.

He has also closed down opposition political parties and blocked media from reporting negative views on the war. So Ukraine is far from democratic.

Seriously?  to support the proxy war?  you are entitled to your views as are Russians but if you really want to wave a red flag at the Bull go ahead.

Peace symbols / ban the bomb, always works for me.

Make Love not War ... why antagonize people, especially when you probably aren't, weren't there, and or know the real facts.

Thailand isn't Russia.

Nor is it Ukraine so stop winding up Russians by wearing the colours of a country that has banned all political opposition and debate. DYOR

I get your point and think Iraq was probably the biggest American foreign mistake in history yet I totally reject that they are equivalents.

You are correct that they are not equivalent. Putin hasn't killed half a million children yet.

It's far more democratic than Russia and moving towards the west, democracy  and INDEPENDENCE from Russia is the free will choice of the vast majority of Ukrainians.

It's also remarkable that considering the history of Jews in Ukraine that they elected a Jew with 70 percent of the vote.

No other country has ever done that except Israel.

Their economy is crumbling. The ruble is being artificially propped up. They sell their gas but at very low profit. They suffered a huge brain drain of highly skilled workers.

Against the THB it's pretty close to where it was before the Russian invasion and it's trending downwards. That doesn't suggest that Russia's economy has become stronger, it suggests that it has regained the immense losses it incurred immediately after the invasion.

This all ignores a whole load of other factors, such as the known mass exodus of Russians from Russia over the past 12 months. They all had to go somewhere. I'm no world economy expert by any means, but I'm also not so naive to believe that a sharp increase in Russians to Pattaya must mean that the Russian economy has been improved by their actions over the last 12 months.

Holy Hell What universe do you live in. I'll let others more eloquent than me get into the politics of it but to say that Russia is winning the propaganda war is somewhat bizarre

And if Putin is a dictator then Biden is a terrorist.  Time to stop reflexively saluting every war that comes along.  We're so plainly in the wrong on this one it's embarrassing.

Who are the "we" you're referring to?

When Putin stole Crimea in 2014 I saw many obnoxious Russians wearing fascistic Putin shirts. Over the years very  common to see Russian nationalist attire but I think rarer now as they know they're a parish nation now.

I think you meant pariah?  but to who? only a portion of the world not China, Africa, India etc. etc.  and even in Europe and USA there are many who don't buy into the Biden narrative. Don't forget it was the USA that sponsored the coup in Ukraine back in 2014 and have supported the abolition and jailing of the opposition within Ukraine itself. Only negotiations will lead to peace and it was nearly achieved in February 2022 only for Johnson and his buddies to tell them not to settle. Ukraine cannot win and it is naïve to think they can.

They have won the propaganda was??? In which country has that happened - China?

Or are you a visitor from another dimension?

How would you feel if I had worn a Iraqi T-shirt in Pattaya, which is full of Yanks, 20 years ago.

How about wearing a Tibetan T-shirt when around Chinese?

No point.

Anyways, Ukraine can fight their own wars. It is certainly nothing to do with me.

It is a silent demonstration, showing people around your stand!

Most of the Russians in Thailand is privileged Russians, and if he feels strongly to express himself, and also aware of the risk, meeting one wrong guy and he get provoked, then fine, do it.

There have been many treads here about Russians, Chinese and Indians you could not make with tourists from UK or USA. So in some way this forum is a bit racist.

Well put it this way, Russia is winning the propaganda war for those that believe in conspiracy theories, but for those who choose facts over make believe all that's occurred is for Russia to show itself for what it really is.

No, that's impotent rage.  Russia is a democracy.  Putin won multiple elections.

Because you don't like a person who wins an election doesn't make him a dictator.

Meanwhile, it's perfectly clear that Biden bombed Nordstream.  We have his explicit declaration that he would do so, we have cui bono, and we now have serious journalists providing us with all of the details.

When is Article V to be invoked?

Not an unprovoked war.  Even the Israelis are abandoning ship.  Plainly the thinking was that we would cripple Russia's economy.  We've only made it stronger, as is plain to anyone here in Pattaya at the moment.

Time to admit we were wrong.

Rarely have I seen so much drivel sprouted in a post. And let me correct that last sentence for you:

'Time to admit you were wrong.'

Total rubbish to say it is more democratic. (who's propaganda is that?) It also seems that the people of the Donbass don't share your view of Russia. Not after being bombed by Ukrainians for 8 years!

As a Jew I am insulted to think that that POS somehow represents Jews.

You can't negotiate with Putin. Period  He would only use any deal.as a pause until further escalation later. To him Ukraine doesn’t exist as a separate nation. Ukraine can win with enough arms

No, please stop. I've had my fill of ******* today. Russia attacked Ukraine and tried to conquer it. That's an undisputed fact for everyone who hasn't gone down a rabbit hole.

End of.
