A FIRE broke out at the three-storey Metropolitan Police Division 5 building in Sathorn Soi 8 at 4 a.m. this morning (Mar. 4) with the whole structure gutted in the fierce blaze but there were no casualties, Thai Rath newspaper said.

 

The building was engulfed in flames that shot up 10 metres high and there was the sound of explosions from time to time. Firemen rushed to the scene and used over 50 fire hoses to put out the raging fire and it was over an hour before it was extinguished.

 

Police had closed North Sathorn road for a kilometre from Narinthon intersection while firemen worked.

This is the second police facility to go up in flames recently, that I know about.

Maybe there's more, who knows.

Wonder what high profile case was there to go up in flames , somebody will wake up pretty happy I guess.

So all the paperwork for numerous police investigations on-going and past destroyed presumably. Very convenient. A blaze like this has to be looked upon with the upmost suspicion particularly in a country like Thailand.

Are you suggesting it takes some time before they notice a police station has burned to the ground?????

... what wasn't immediately known was that all those 117 boxes of documents/cases against Thai cops and corruption... all destroyed in fire ????????????????
