Is it possible that a foreigner, with 189 days of overstay, paid 90,000 THB to avoid being taken to the IDC? However, we know almost nothing about the incident you are referring to. Just being on a long overstay does not automatically mean you will be arrested and incarcerated in the IDC. It just means you could be. However, the fine is capped by law at 20,000 baht maximum.
