Just want something basic that works reasonably well.

Just look on a search engine for the best one and see if Lazada have it. Then look at the reviews on Lazada. My God this forum is full of fascinating topics with interesting people.

Most recent phones already have one built in, or you can download an app. Or buy a cheapo Smart watch for about Bht 250.

Just get a smart watch?  My Mii watch counts steps for years - it's not that difficult to figure it out (maybe for you it is).
