Mrs planning on selling second hand stuff online and apparently big border market selling used foreign goods this area

As per Thailand she will go off half cocked lol and waste a 6 hour round trip. She will probably only have one day in the area.

Just trying to find out a little more info for her

re:

is there more than one market and which is the best one to go to?

Is there any day better than others to go ideally good selection of stock and not too busy

I hear weekends very busy

Would appreciate any info if anyone has any insights

You can't pick and choose the clothing items individually. You have to buy them by the bale. In each bale thete will ne a few good items , some average , and some not so good. Regardless, once you have sorted your bale you will have to wash ,iron and possibly make minor repairs before resale.

My wife used to sell new clothes at the ministry of commerce market. The stall holder next to her sold secondhand clothes from the Rong Glua border market. Husband and wife team plus a couple of relatives help with the washing. They managed to make a living at it but it was hard work and they were not making a huge profit.

Selling secondhand clothes online will be tough unless the items are designer labels.

Any update on this? Did you go there and how was the prices on 2 hand clothes by buying bulk? I have seen the clothes in bkk markets before from rong klua selling at 20-60b a piece, very popular and (some) of the clothes looks very ok.

My missus did go there but she was looking for bags. Was a huge fail. She sat on a bus there and back 12 hours lol and came back empty handed. Sellers were very aggressive and unhelpful. Everyone told her markets there not what they used to be now same retail prices. She has since been told she went to the wrong area. I think its all about finding the right person / contacts. She didn't unfortunately

Like I said all about making the right contacts and doing the homework first I think. Don't expect anyone to reveal their suppliers lol. My wife didn't really do any homework before she went. Mrs reckons it's 1000 rai! Not really sure how much a Rai is but must be the size of a decent cattle farm at least

Does no one use Google?

66 acres, over 1300 stores.

We used to call in when we lived in Sa Kaeo and had to visit Immigration at Aranyaprathet. Get a little electric golfcart to roam around. Don't recall ever buying anything apart from food, if there are as claimed over 1300 stores than there's about 30 of each variety, fake handbags etc.

Time filler to browse if you're not in a hurry.

Waste of time. The real reselling opportunities are on the Northern border Mae Sai

Hi, is the product of better quality and cheaper?, are they wholesale markets the same as Aran?, they look more retail on the videos ive seen.

My missus went 2 or 3 months ago. She was sending me prices and photos of used products to sell and prices seemed high and stock very poor / dirty. You would get better goods / prices on FB marketplace. She was there 2 days and said she went all over the markets. Any local people she spoke to said the place hasn't recovered since covid and prices now were retail or more for used goods. My missus pretty dozy so she might have missed something but I get the feeling you need to find the right person / seller with good stock and prices...develop a relationship and after can even order remotely from them. Most of the sellers she spoke to were fairly aggressive. Stock was all over the place and they weren't helpful in showing her anything. If they did show her something they expected her to buy it. We do know a couple of people buy there (but not well enough for them to divulge their suppliers) and they seem to buy decent stuff at very good prices. But I think its a buy a bag of stuff...A, B or C grade at the corresponding price...so high level of trust required. You would get some winners and losers I imagine so the price would have to be low enough to throw a percentage in the bin

Spend 2 days there - rent a caddy to drive round if the leg work gets too much.

You can of course buy individual items. Prices are no longer "dirt cheap" - I'd say its good if you are a specialist buy (e,g, vintage Levis"/ jean copies etc.). It is a massive place - not sure how you get a pitch to sell stuff, but I"ve taken people who've shipped boxes back to the UK and EU to their shops and very happy with the results.
