At times wearing a blindfold and a tape on his mouth, he told reporters that a reported court order against him to desist from pursuing the campaign was an infringement on his constitutional rights and vowed to appeal it to a higher court while promising to comply with any final court ruling. by James Morris and Son Nguyen Activist plans to appeal the court order on Friday and to stage a public rally at Victory Monument at 5 pm in his campaign calling on voters to shun the Bhumjaithai Party. At his press conference on Thursday, Mr Chuwit said that it was his right as a citizen under the constitution to criticise and make known his opinions on political party policies. The time was particularly propitious in the run-up to a General Election. He said voters had a right to know just what they were voting for. Chuwit Kamolvisit has vowed to continue his crusade against the legalisation of marijuana and his campaign calling for voters to shun and vote out the Bhumjaithai Party in the May 14th General Election although he told reporters on Thursday that he would abide by any final court order, in his own way. His comments, made at a colourful press conference, came after reports of an order from a civil court on Thursday for him to cease his activities directed at the coalition government party in the course of proceedings taken against him for defamation seeking damages by the registrar of the party, Mr Supachai Jaisamut. Actually, the Thai consitution "suggests" these are rights, but then also severely limits them, so no, he's wrong. And of course, in Thailand, some people have more rights than others, depending on where they are situated in the Thai social pyramid structure. As regards the rights and liberties of the Thai people, in addition to the rights and liberties as guaranteed specifically by the provisions of the Constitution, a person shall enjoy the rights and liberties to perform any act which is not prohibited or restricted by the Constitution or other laws, and shall be protected by the Constitution, insofar as the exercise of such rights or liberties does not affect or endanger the security of the State or public order or good morals, and does not violate the rights or liberties of other persons. 2 1

Popular Post Tengu
I believe that I am like most of the posters here and a non-Thai and have no dog in this hunt. I also don't know the current or proposed state of the cannabis law in the Kingdom as it pertains to THC vs CBD, taxation and the actual state of those things de-facto and de-jury. That said I have a few questions I would like to know the answers to. I believe that Chuwit was deeply involved in the "massage" business in the past. If true has he completely divested himself of that business or was that not of his choosing? Is it known why he is no longer the employer of attractive ladies? Why is he opposed to legal cannabis? Is he now involved in the sale of alcohol products and cannabis may, as some above have suggested, might affect his "slice of the pie?" Undoubtedly there is a good deal of corruption, it is Thailand and there is regulation and money. But that is another subject which seems easy to solve.... Can anyone help to fill me in? Thanks! 1 1

(I'm really glad for the CBD even though it didn't seem to help me). If Pheu Thai win the election ( and don't then get banned ) that ship will be back in the harbor with the anchors out. Anyone who thinks things have gone too far for any government to put the brakes on should start stocking up now !! The probable outcome will be legal medical cannabis but a crackdown on shops selling it over the counter. The fact that too much weed has been imported , hurting local growers , won't help. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/thailands-promised-cannabis-bonanza-disappoints-politicians-trade-blame-2023-04-06/ Another problem has been the smokers themselves being less than discreet in pursuance of their hobby. Gently gently catch the monkey but too much publicity and waving of the flag has attracted the attention of the alarmed conservative Thais who want to turn the clock back. From the linked article : "In the early days, I could sell a kilo for between 350,000 and 400,000 baht ($10,200-$11,600)," said Srapathum, who runs three indoor farms. That sounds like BS to me . That's more like the retail price than the wholesale. Edited April 7, 2023 by Denim
Purdey
Chuvit had done a service to Thais regarding his whistleblowing. I am a bit suspicious of the anti weed drive as both he and his daughter attended Californian universities and i guess did not inhale while walking in the dorms.
