No, the man is an idiot, which is not unusual in this country in people who occupy high status, I'm afraid.

  • Sorry I am lost for words with this idiocy

Where DO they get these stupid people from?

I am old enough to remember real smog back in the UK in the 1950s. No it wasn't natural and yes it killed many people.

https://www.britannica.com/event/Great-Smog-of-London

Great Smog of London, also called Great Smog of 1952, lethal smog that covered the city of London for five days, from December 5 to December 9, in 1952. It was caused by a combination of industrial pollution and high-pressure weather conditions. The smoke and fog brought London to a near standstill and resulted in thousands of deaths. Its consequences prompted Parliament to pass the Clean Air Act four years later, which marked a turning point in the history of environmentalism.

I wasn't alive then, but my grandfather told me he took a gas mask with him to work in central London in the early 50s. In places like Chiang Rai we can't be far off that now.

Breathing a sigh of relief.  Now if the Bangkok governor could just do the same. . .

When your leaders have this level of cognitive abilities, it is no wonder why problem solving and vision are  completely lacking…

It's inherent in the Thai education system, which teaches obedience and deference to authority.

Problem solving requires questions, which are frowned upon. Vision requires imagination, ditto.

This moron is really mocking the Thai people and tourists.  Perhaps if he and his family get

cancer will be what they deserve.

Phuket’s Governor has either been misinformed or is unaware of the true nature of Phuket’s current air pollution problem.

Here... I corrected this part:

Phuket’s Governor is either an utter idiot or truly believes the Thai people and everyone else in Phuket are.

He is the Governor of Phuket, so as a politician if his lips move he is lying.

Reminds me of the same situation in Pattaya a few years ago, when some jobsworth announced that it was just natural sea fog that was causing the poor visibility. Never mind that all the meters reading AQI and PM2.5 were saying the opposite. Someone should explain to these guys that DeNial is a river in Egypt, not a policy option, lol.

I have been in Phuket 13 years and never seen it this hazy before, its been 3 days now and there is a breeze but it is not blowing whatever it is away.

That will save the Governor from doing anything!

Most if not all Thais burn - not just the farmers.

Thais seem to do whatever the village head man says.

So make all village head men liable for illegal burning in their area.

...and those who occupy low status too.

PM2.5 is the silent killer, sometimes it's beter to shut up, it is an inappropriate excuse.

Look this lung picture and send him.

I think what he is trying to say, this happens every year but it usually never lasts too long. So it is 'naturally happening every year'.

It's hard to know what they are saying when their head is up their but with a foot stuck in their mouth.

Tar the lot of them with the same brush. Drop Kicks.

To be clear, the smog and haze enveloping Phuket and the south of Thailand over the past three days is NOT natural phenomena,

Yes, stay in, lock your doors !

th?id=OIP.qKiMI4UdSKASvJlQgK8DqAHaEK&pid=Api&P=0

Probably due to the unbearable traffic emitting all those nice fumes.. . The place is like Bangkok with beaches.

Seems that the most shocking part of this, is that blazing idiots, like Phuket governor Narong Woonciew are actually in positions of power, and don't have PR people who vet the ignorant and uneducated things they say.

Woe is Thailand. It would appear that selecting leaders from the bottom of the barrel, without qualifications, is a sport here.

Very good article on biomass and other forms of pollution Thailand cannot seem to control.

It's a bit like the Mayor of Amity Island telling people to go swimming because sharks are a natural phenomenon!

Yes, just go outside and get bronchitis or lung cancer, while I (the governor) remain safely inside in my  office, car and house with the aircon and air furifiers at full blast.

This guy is an absolute joke!!

An idiot, just like that politician years ago who said the smog over Chang Mai was caused by Korean BBQ s.
