Sanook reported on a cremation ceremony in Surin on Friday in which two monks attacked each other in full view of other clergy and relatives.

 

It happened in Jorm Phra district of Surin in NE Thailand.

 

Phra Ek and Phra Art went for each other in their robes.

 

Monk Ek said there was a disagreement about who would sit in the front row.

 

The abbot wondered if the pair had some previous beef that led up to the shameful incident.

 

The mother of monk Ek said she wouldn't press charges as she feared bad karma.

Is this cause for a  "defrocking" ?????

Thai Buddhism is truely not Budhism as they show.. Buddhism is a low profile, no luxury and wealth, but devoted to enter the enlightment and Nirvana.. but here in Thailand,, gambling numbers available, as we see now they want to be more important than another, and have most of the time too much money and than I don't talk about other things.....How can they teach the people the right behaviour??

I think a lot of the monks in Thailand, are like other goods sold in Thailand sake TIT

Monk mma would be good

It was at a funeral. It's likely that the two fighting monks were novices and relations of the deceased that had entered monkhood for the duration of the mourning period only. A tradition among Thai families.

 

Bhuddism in Thailand is different to that of other countries but, unlike what some of the posts here seem to suggest, there are many genuine monks that devote their lives to Bhuddism. Sadly, just like other countries and religion or beliefs in general, there are those that let the side down.
