Popular Post soi3eddie
Always amazes me how Thai drivers ignore emergency vehicles that always have lights flashing and sirens blaring. Never give way. Dimwits. Loss of taxi licence and prosecution should be immediate. <deleted>! 5 1

Popular Post bunnydrops
Amazing save by the ambulance driver. I find that the problem is not just with Thai drivers. The ambulance drivers drive with the lights flashing all the time, even when not an emergency. In this case the ambulance driver seems to come into an intersection against the light without even slowing down. When inside a car it is difficult to know where the siren is coming from. I haven't heard it here, but in my home country the sound of the siren is changed when the ambulance is nearing an intersection. Much more rapid, and louder. worrab
In almost every other country any vehicle attending an emergency will slow down when going through red traffic lights to check the road is clear and not assume all other road users will hear/see them approaching. Also a ruling was put out a couple of years ago that unless an ambulance is on an emergency call then the lights MUST be turned off!!
cncltd1973
give him a break, they are still late to figuring out the rules and techniques, so they learn in real time. what do you want, every driver to slow down and look around at an intersection whenever he hears a siren? not in this country, rules are for chumps

A few years ago, there was a similar accident in Belgium and the Ambulance was declared wrong at the court and ordered to pay all the damages. The traffic law was stating that emergency vehicles need to slow down when nearing a traffic light and can only drive trough that light if it is safe to do so.

But TIT...rules/laws/common sense are not applicable here.
NE1
UK law states " stop behind the stop line at a red light " , if an emergency vehicle goes through a red light and is involved in an accident with a vehicle going on a green light , then the emergency vehicle will be held responsible

You were faster. A lot of blame on the ambulance. Professional emergency drivers (firefighters, ambulance, police) in my country get a special education and permission to drive with siren/flashlight. And one of the lessons is: you can not simply drive full speed through a red light or violate other rules without care (driving opposite, driving on footpath etc.). Approach carefully and drive slowly through the intersection.

roger101
I drove an ambulance in the 70s. We were told that we could drive through Red Lights, go the wrong way up a One Way Street etc, but any accident would be your fault and you would be charged.
