snoop1130 Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Three Russian tourists have been rescued while another is still missing after one of them was hit by a wave and washed out into the sea by waves while taking a selfie at the Prom Thep Cape in Rawai. Emergency responders were notified of the incident on Friday (May 12th) at the end of the Prom Thep Cape. They and the Phuket Express arrived at the scene to find three foreign tourists floating in the sea. They were quickly rescued from the water. They told emergency responders that they were Russians on holiday. They went into the sea to help their friend who was doing a selfie taking session before being hit by a wave and being washed out into the sea. Their friend disappeared into the ocean before the Russian tourists called out for locals for help and a search was launched. Popular Post spidermike007 Posted May 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 12, 2023 Nobody knows how many people are killed annually, while taking a selfie. Crossing the roads, standing on the edge of a waterfall, etc. The risks young people are willing to take for their 6,700th selfie are ridiculous. I am getting to the point where I don't recognize this world anymore. People seem to be evolving backwards. 7 2 1
KhunLA Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Yes, the days of the postcard beating you back home are over. Instant gratification now showing / stating ... 'hey, look at me, I'm on holiday' .... ... oh krap, where'd that wave come from. 1 1

Hakuna Matata Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 Oh, how unfortunate! Hopefully he will be rescued. Bahmut is waiting.

Mostly the sons of Russian high ranking officials with their families or without. And a lot of money in their pockets. 2 years ago they travelled mostly to luxury European resorts, even not knowing a country like Thailand.
spidermike007 Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 I think many younger folks would never consider a photo of a temple, mountain, the sea, or anything else, without then being in the photo. Is this some sort of "I need to prove I was actually there" sort of nonsense?

No. It is due to the overall quality of life. If you are living off of foreign currency, you are likely living well here. Far better than you would back home. The people are kind, they have a wonderful humor and a lighthearted spirit (I just came back from the land of the heavy hearted and the forlorn, America) the weather is warmer, the food is great, the standard of living is high, the women are beautiful, and approachable, the police are not a nuisance. Need I go on? I could. 1 2
