Scott
Disney on Thursday upped the ante in its battle with Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, and it cost his state 2,000 white-collar jobs. Disney is scrapping plans to build a $1 billion office complex in Florida, citing “changing business conditions,” according to a memo provided by a Disney spokesperson. The decision comes at a time when the company is openly feuding with DeSantis, who is expected to officially enter the 2024 GOP presidential race next week, CNN reported Thursday. https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/18/media/disney-florida-desantis/index.html

The state has always censored stuff that kids are too young to see regarding sexually explicit content. That is why certain movies are given adult ratings. Only "people" with very questionable intentions for kids would want them sexualised at such a young age. Why is it that you want kids to see this stuff? 2 3 2

I'm not interested in that stuff, it's just weirdos making alarmist and false homophobic allegations about subjects that are a matter for kids, parents and their doctors. Not state political and religious interference. Nor am I concerned about what education kids are or are not receiving about sexuality and gender. Not in the least. Nope, I'm talking Critical Race Theory. Edited May 19, 2023 by ozimoron 2

I guess now you think it should be up to big gubbamint to decide what the standards should be? Edited May 19, 2023 by placeholder

Lots of other people invested in real estate and such on the strength of Disney's plans. And there will be less jobs than there otherwise would have been. And Disney is letting people know it. Lot of Republicans are making their unhappiness with Desantis known too, He's overplayed his hand. But he doesn't know how to retreat. There was an interesting story a while back about how Desantis fired someone he suspected of going behind his back to the press. She is a very well connected long time Republican apparatchik. Not only did he fire her, but he made sure that no other Republicans in the state would hire her. Now she's working for Trump. DeSantis tried to bury her. Now she’s helping Trump try to bury him https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/nation-politics/desantis-tried-to-bury-her-now-shes-helping-trump-try-to-bury-him/ There is something seriously wrong with Desantis. Vindictiveness as you said. Focus on attacking something or somebody instead of putting the energy towards positive ventures and being an inspiring rolemodel. Trying to instill fear to suppress opponents. He shares a lot of these traits with Trump but seems even more aggressive and trying to properly hurt his targets. Scary to have someone like that in power. But as we are seeing people like that will try to tear each other apart even if they are from the same party.

HIs guiding principle is vindictiveness. There are a few things DeSantis did not take into account about his different 'crusades': - Dysney employs 75,000 people, there are also thousands of induced jobs in hotels, shops, etc... These people also have family members. That's a lot of voters. - LGBT: more than 4% of Florida's pop. That's even more a lot of voters. - women: few actually use abortion, but many want to keep this option open to them. That's also a lot of voters.

Don’t worry he’s not a real governor he only plays one to pander for votes he does little to address the poverty rampant drug addiction and crime in the state he’s supposed to govern he’s much to busy picking fights with Mikey mouse and attacking the most defenseless in society .truly sad 1 1

Nobody from Disney is moving away from Florida, all DeSantis has achieved is lose an extra workforce of 2,000 Disney employees many of which were going to be re located from California and others needed to be recruited. All white collar jobs. Oh and of course the sum of nearly $1 billion investment and all the other local jobs it would have created. Yea stick to your guns Ron, way to go......lol 2 1
